How many pro teams have you seen in person?

When I was a child my dad took me to a professional baseball game. I don’t even remember who played.

As has been pointed out by others, I can’t possibly track the number of teams I’ve seen play against my home teams, so I will only list whose home games I’ve attended.

MLB
Dodgers (over 100), Angels (10-15), Padres (2), Giants (1), Diamondbacks (2), Cubs (1), Indians (3) and Nationals (1). Also, the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (maybe 5) and whoever Fresno’s single A ballclub is (1), if you’re still counting MiLB as a “pro” game. I’d venture to say I’ve seen every team in the National League play at some point, and maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the American League.

NBA
Lakers (4?), Clippers (2ish) and Wizards (1)

NFL
Raiders (approximately 6) and Chargers (1)

NHL
Kings (6) and Sharks (1)

I never did make it to an Arena Football game before they killed the league. And I’ve yet to go to a pro soccer game, but I may someday. I might even try to hit a WNBA game this year since I live so close to Staples Center.

I also can’t remember all the opponents. Sigh.

MLB: Atlanta Braves @ Seattle Mariners. Regrettably, I only drove past Wrigley.
XFL: LA Xtreme
NBA: Cleveland Cavaliers
NHL: LA Kings

When it comes to attending, I’ve been to far more college games than pro.

If we’re counting visiting teams then here we go…

MLB: Every current team plus the Expos (most likely - I may have missed one AL team… but I doubt it having gone to well over 150 Cardinals games and probably around 100 Royals games).

NFL: All AFC West teams, most of the NFC West (don’t think I’ve seen the Arizona Cardinals in person), Patriots

NHL: Had season tickets to the Blues for a number of years, so I’ve probably seen every team in person at least once

NBA: Celtics home game against… can’t recall.

If we’re talking just home parks then:

MLB: Cardinals, Royals, Dodgers, A’s, Angels, Red Sox, Twins
NFL: Chiefs, Rams, Patriots
NHL: Blues
NBA: Celtics

Baseball: All of them. All at home except the Rockies, whom I have seen on the road more than once. (I’m limiting my answer to MLB; if I add Minor League and Independent teams, which are still “professional,” it’s in the hundreds.)

Hockey: Blackhawks, Stars, Canucks, Hurricanes, Lightning, probably a couple more that I don’t recall.

Football: Bears, Packers, Lions.

Basketball: Bulls, 1 preseason game about 15 years ago. Don’t recall the opponent.

I’m jealous. That’s one of the things we want to do after I retire: Hit every MLB park for a home game in 1 season. Three parks are day trips. Four more are overnights. The rest will require some planning.

None.

Well, you asked.

NFL- all teams (former Pats ST holder for 25 years)
MLB all AL teams. NL: all teams except Pittsburgh, Houston, Arizona and Washington (but I did see Montreal)
NHL all current teams, Quebec, Whalers (both Boston & Hartford), Cleveland, & Winnipeg in the WHA (may have seen Winnipeg in NHL, but not sure)
NBA Celtics, Buffalo, Golden State, Portland, Houston, Seattle, NY Knicks, Nets, San Diego
MLS Revolution, Galaxy (wanted to see the new Gillette Stadium and couldn’t wait until Patriots pre-season)

Nothing but baseball. Indians vs. Brewers (twice) and vs. Toronto, and then Phillies vs. someone better than them.

I’ve never, ever been to a professional game. Until a few years ago, I couldn’t even watch live games. Thank God ESPN changed the market and now they show games on TV live.

The closest I’ve been to a professional game was a AAA minor league game.

Football: I think nearly all of the NFL teams. 11 years as an Eagles season ticket holder. I missed the Jacksonville game a few years ago because my mother had a heart attack. I don’t think I have seen them in the regular season. They were in here for a preseason game.

MLB: All the NL teams except for the Marlins, Brewers and probably the Cubs. I don’t recall seeing the Blue Jays, White Sox, Twins, Royals, Rangers in the AL. Also seen a lot of the Eastern League (AA baseball) teams and Northeast League (Independent) teams. I used to go a lot to Trenton and Allentown.

Hockey: saw the Capitals and whoever they played that night. Used to watch Philadelphia Phantoms but I only remember Hershey. Saw the Trenton Titans and whoever they played once.

Basketball: Saw the Clippers and Knicks earlier this year. Saw the Jazz and Spurs last year.

Major League Soccer: pretty much all the teams except for the recent expansion teams, Philly, Salt Lake City, Toronto. Saw a few games for the Hershey Wildcats (Minor League Soccer). I remember them playing Richmond, Atlanta, Rochester.

Seen lots of Russian First and Second Divison soccer teams as well as Hungarian first division soccer teams.

Not many.

Baseball:
Mets, Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies, Kansas City A’s, KC Royals, Houston Astros, and the members of the 1977 All-Star Teams (I was on the field with them, actually). There were probably one or two others I can’t remember. One minor league game with the Albany-Colonie Yankees vs. the Binghamton Mets.

Football:
Boston Patriots. This was probably a new level of “in person”: The team used the school I was going to for the summer as a training camp and used the same locker room. Often the players weren’t in uniform. At all.

NFL: Seahawks, Vikings, Bengals, Cowboys (Yes, THAT ONE), Cardinals, Rams
MLB: Mariners, Rangers, White Sox, Yankees, Devil Rays, Cubs, Blue Jays.
NBA: Sonics, Blazers

Baseball: Been to games at Dodger Stadium (L.A.) and Minute Maid Park (Houston). I catch the Astros somewhat frequently, and have seen most of the NL teams, plus the Rangers and got to watch Greinke pitch a shut out. Like baseball, can’t stand the Astros ownership, but would happily see a game live otherwise.

Football: Been to games at Candlestick Park (S.F.) and the old Dallas Stadium (not the house that Jerry built) Caught the game where T.O. spiked the ball on the star at the 50, and promptly got laid out by George Teague. Hilarious. Despite that, I’d be perfectly happy if I never saw another NFL game live. Playoffs might be different, but I have a better time watching on T.V.

Basketball: Caught one game at Toyota Center (Houston). Don’t really see the point. We were in nosebleeds at the top of the bowl, so perhaps it’s a lot better when you’re close to the court. Conversely, we usually sit near the top at Minute Maid, but still have a good time.

Soccer: Watched two World Cup matches in 1994. (Since they’re filled with pros, I’m counting them as a pro team) Absolutely amazing. The USA/Brazil match started around 2 PM if I remember correctly, we slept in line to get tickets, the Brazillian side began drumming and sambaing at about 7:30 AM, and did not stop the entire game. When I ever get back to Europe, a highlight will be seeing one of the great home n homes, like Man U v City, or Celtic v. Rangers, or the Boca Juniors/Rio Plata dust-up (I know that BA isn’t in Europe…still want to visit, if only to learn how to tango).

Never seen an NHL game. I’ve seen the Houston minor league team play, and it’s a lot of fun with constant action.

I’m sure I won’t remember them all. I’m not counting spring training baseball.

MLB:
Dodgers, Padres, Giants, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Reds, Cardinals, Cubs, Brewers, Astros, Marlins, Braves, Phillies, Rangers, A’s, Angels, Indians, Orioles, (Devil) Rays, Blue Jays, Royals.

NHL:
Panthers, Blue Jackets, Blackhawks, Canucks, Lightening, Coyotes, Red Wings, Kings,Stars, Predators

NBA:
Pacers, Wizards, Spurs, Jazz

NFL:
Cardinals, Eagles, Dolphins, Patriots

MLS:Miami Fusion, Galaxy, Earthquakes, Crew, Fire, Dallas Burn, New England Revolution

(favorites in bold)

MLB: Cubs, Padres, Phillies, Reds, Rockies, Nationals, Astros, Pirates, Marlins, Cardinals, Mariners, White Sox

NBA: 16-time champion & 2010 champion Lakers, Bulls, Thunder

Even the Posse and the Shreveport Silverfish or whatever they were called?

CFL:

All of the current teams, plus the Ottawa Rough Riders, the Ottawa Renegades, the Posse and the Baltimore Stallions.

NHL:

Nordiques, Oilers & Habs (yes it was a rare three-way match)

MLB:

Expos

Astros

hmmm - just realised that 6 of the teams I’ve mentioned no longer exist. I obviously don’t get out much.

Baseball: I’m in Cleveland and an Indians’ fan, and the only AL team I’ve missed is the Rays.

In the NL I’ve seen the Mets, Braves, Marlins, Reds, Pirates, Cubs, Brewers, Dodgers, Expos, Giants and Cardinals.

I haven’t seen the Nationals, Phillies, Astros, Padres, Rockies or Diamondbacks.

In the NFL I’ve seen the Browns, Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Oilers, Bills, Colts, Broncos and Bears

For the NBA I’ve seen a lot of them but none recently so they’re a blur. I saw the Bucks back when they still had Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

I realize now I’ve barely seen any top-level pro teams in person. I used to watch a bunch of minor-league games, so I saw just about everybody in the Eastern League when the Williamsport Bills were in it, but that doesn’t count here.

So my sad total consists of:

MLB: Phillies, Giants, Expos, Braves, Nationals. I’m taking my dad to see Phillies vs. Indians next week, so that will add another.

Scottish Premier League: Aberdeen, Motherwell.

English County Championship (cricket): Surrey, Somerset, Durham (playing against Combined Universities…yes, a top-level pro team against an amateur side).
