How many SE Michiganders on the board

Royal Oak here. I see they haven’t chimed in, but we also have some Northern Michiganders, and one Yooper (I think.)

Not gonna post my cousin’s name. I will e-mail it to ya.

I dated that band director’s daughter, and partied with his son, BTW.

Just signing in as another transplanted Michigander: grew up in Sterling Heights, went to school in Ann Arbor (I still miss Ann Arbor occasionally).

And I’m way too amused by minor7flat5’s link.

I like the Greektown idea.

However, I work until 8:00 Saturday morning so I sleep until midafternoon. So a day trip kind of thing is out for me.

Thought I better bump this, it was getting kinda lost

Greektown works for me too.

RickQ and I would be happy with dinner in Greektown.

Ok, we have a date. We have an activity. We have an approximate location. Now all we need is a time and an exact location.

Have at it.

I’d love to go, but if the drive’s more than, oh, an hour and a half, I’ll have to pass. Also, if the place is too expensive, since we have to save a good chunk o’ change for The Move.

Ummmm… how about 7:00 at Pizza Papalis?

Can’t wait to see you guys…

You see, there are two foods that RickQ hates above all others–cheese and tomatos. He would rather eat bugs. Now, you can make a pizza without cheese and you can make a pizza without tomatos, but you can’t make one without either.

In other words, can we go someplace beside Pizza Papalis (as much as I like it)?

In the spirit of don’t criticize unless you offer a solution, I checked the chowhounds midwest board. Several people recommended Laikon, which is at 569 Monroe Street. Here is a review I found online:

“In the heart of Detroit’s Greektown, the Laikon offers good Greek food in a lively and comfortable environment. A variety of lamb dishes, fried squid, avgolemono soup, flaming cheese and, of course, Greek salad are among the favorite dishes. The bar, nestled beneath the stairway leading up to the balcony, has an intimate and friendly feel that many patrons swear by.”

I like the 7:00 suggestion.

I prefer the greek restaurant idea to the pizza place as well. I havn’t had good greek food in a long time (well except for some coney island gyros)

7:00 is a good time for me. Should be able to get my beauty sleep in and be bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Apparently I need help w/ my reading comprehension. We have a date? What is that date…?

sneaks in, and starts poking the trolls to watch them dance

It looks like most folks can make it May 8th, which is a Saturday. Laikon looks like it has good reviews, but if someone else would like to recommend another place, that would be fine with me.

<hoping Athena isn’t talking to us>

I’ll mark it down on the calender!

I plan on bringing the Mrsalong. I know she’s a non-doper, but we have to make allowances for the faults of those we love.

heheheh, of course I am! Lookit all da trolls in dis thread!

I just noticed your location, Athena.

:smack:

Next Michigan Dopefest is at Athenas!

I miss the UP.

I once heard a story that Michigan got the UP in a trade by giving Toledo to Ohio.

I think we got the better part of the deal.

Fashionably late here, checking in.

Live in Ann Arbor, although I am not a native.

I used to instigate a lot of Michigan Dopefests and I’ve not done that so often lately. We lost some people to moves and we lost Persephone; it just kinda took the wind out of my sails I guess.

I hope people can make it to this 5/8 thing.

I can’t, but it would be cool to know we got some old faces and new blood together.
