How many subscribers have paid $14.95 to date?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I did a quick search and couldn’t find an answer to my question.

Anyways, just curious.

At the end of the discounted subscription period, I counted 3790 subscribers in the Forum Leaders page[sup]1[/sup]. As of July 1[sup]2[/sup], that number is 3952, which works out to 162 subscribers at the full rate (roughly – see Note 1 below). Unfortunately, the Forum Leaders page no longer shows the subscriber list, so we won’t be able to answer this question in the future without asking one of the SD staff.
NOTES
1. There’s a slight discrepancy between what was shown on the Forum Leaders page and the actual subscriber numbers. IIRC, Ed Zotti reported just over 3800 as the official count at the end of the discount period. I don’t know all the reasons for a subscriber to not show on that page, though I noticed that banned subscribers were dropped.
2. If you suffer from insomnia, the rest of that thread would cure you of it right quick.

Waitaminute… We get to date, too? And it only costs $14.95 to date? Why didn’t anyone tell me this before? gets out wallet

I think it’s going to take more than $14.95 to get any dates out to Bozeman, tho…

Happy ending’s another twenty.

On the contrary, I’ve just stayed up another 20 minutes reading it. And I don’t even understand statistics. (Wish I did, though. One more course I should have taken in undergrad but didn’t. Didn’t science cartoonist Larry Gonick do a Cartoon Guide to Statistics? I’ll have to look that up someday.)

Well, when I asked this question back on May 14, the count was about 50.

On preview: this would mean that (if Earthling’s numbers are correct) in two months, 112 people have ponied up $15 to join. Not too shabby!

Here you go: The Cartoon Guide to Statistics

Judging by the cover, I thought that book would be excellent for me, but then, in the description, they started using phrases like bete noire and I knew immediately that it was way out of my league.

Thanks, JeffB. Somehow, I missed the subscription notification until Freido posted.

And Freido, bete noir isn’t a statistics term, it just means problem or source of dread. (I had to look it up, too.) Avoiding a book because it might require you to expand your vocabulay is odd behavior for someone dedicated to fighting ignorance!

FTR, latest subscription count: 4,005.

Woo hoo!

And Little Ed’s condition?

I assume this is a total from April to today. So can we assume approximately 3850 people who were already registered before April signed up?

The exact number paid up before the (extended) April deadline is known precisely – it was 3,805.

Therefore, as of TubaDiva’s most recent post in this thread, (200 + (# of paid members banned since April deadline)) have signed up for $14.95.
