How many times did Steve McGarrett say...

[ul][li]‘Book him, Danno.’?[/li][li]‘Book him, Danno, Murder One.’?[/li][li]‘Book him. Murder One.’?[/li]‘Book him!’?[/ul]

What are you doing, writing some kind of literature?

Most, if not all, of the series is available for streaming on Netflix. So get a pencil & paper and start counting!

I recently watched a bunch of them just for nostalgia, as I watched that show regularly as a kid in the 70s. Wow is the show goofy by today’s standards. And more than goofy, fully 75% of every episode is just filler of the cops & perps driving around, walking around, doing very little etc. Compared to a modern show like any of the Law & Orders it’s like watching paint dry! And Jack Lord takes the role so seriously that it practically comes off as camp today (like the old Adam West Batman show!)

The show is kind of interesting in terms of TV history as it occupies that time after truly cornball 60s stuff like The F.B.I. and *Dragnet *but before truly gritty, more realistic 80s shows like Hill Street Blues and Miami Vice (which, of course, look corny by today’s standards!)

I’d guess it was considerably less than the number of times Sgt. Joe Friday said, “Just the facts, ma’am.”

ISTR McGarrett, in the heat of pursuit, telling his crew to shut down the island, nobody in or out. That guy had some power

I don’t know about the “Murder One” part, but here is my count for the entire series:

“Book him, Danno” = 42 times
“Book him” = 54 times

Interestingly, “Book him, Danno” was ahead in the count going into the final season, but Danno (James MacArthur) left the show just before that season, so from that point on it was only “Book him” without the “Danno.”

You can double check my count at this site, where it summarizes every episode of the series and mentions if “Book him” is said in each episode…

Alright.

Now, how many times did Mannix get shot in his arm? It had to be at least a dozen or two. It almost became comical. Towards the end of the series I’m surprised his arm didn’t whistle from all the holes. And how many times did he get knocked out?

I’ll trust you. Thanks for finding that!

About as many times as a car ran off a cliff and exploded.

Steve Martin spoofed this in Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid - he was shot twice in the arm, a few days apart IIRC, but the bullet went into the same hole the second time!
