What a timely question …
Female, recently menopausal. Until a couple of years ago I rarely woke to pee. For the last couple of years it’s been 1-4 times a night, usually once or twice. Then, two months ago, I decided to try estrogen for hot flashes. And I slept through the night. For the whole first month I took it. Then I switched to a patch (from a pill). Although the chemical I take is the same, (estradiol) what ends up in the body isn’t, due to the liver acting on what you eat. Also, the effective dose is likely different.
So now I’m waking up maybe once around 5am, and having minor hot flashes, and wondering if I ought to increase my dose a little, or take as low a dose as I can stand. I would love to sleep through the night again. On the other hand, hormones are potent drugs with lots of effects, and lower doses are likely safer… I should probably start a separate thread about it.
