My number is 34. I won’t bore you with the particulars, but will just say that I own the 34 albums on the list which are actually cool. Heh heh.
What annoys me about these lists is that they are always waaaaaaayyyyy too loaded with 60’s albums, and are always far too neglectful of the great albums from the past couple of decades. Damn baby boomers screw up everything, I guess. Even “best album” lists.
I’m also disappointed to see the usual Beatle-worship. Where are all the Stones fans? According to my calculations, Sticky Fingers should be rated no lower than number 5.
And where are all the R.E.M. fans? Only one entry? Murmur at number 92??? A travesty!!!
Oh yeah, and U2’s best album is War, which didn’t even make the list. Philistines!
Thirty seven. But this list bites like a rabid rottweiler.
Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew better than Kind of Blue and Sketches of Spain?
REM Murmur?
No Tom Waits?
None. Although I used to own (and lost) one of the Beatles albums.
Only three:
Nirvana - Nevermind
Pearl Jam - Ten
Radiohead - OK Computer
I have since disowned Nevermind.
I, too, missed Ike by one with 40. I won’t list 'em. Let’s just say that Private Dancer is not one of them.
I didn’t think the list was that bad. There were a few pleasant surprises (OK Computer) and a few head-scratchers (Like a Prayer), along with the deplorable fact that Born to Run was all the way down at #27, despite the fact that it kicks Kurt Cobain’s teen-spirit-smelling ass all around the block.
If anything, it just showed how futile it is to make such a list. If I’m just listing my own personal top 10 albums, it would be a different list every week.

I have to agree that they are missing some serious music. And the SNF soundtrack? Yuck. A good number of these are in the attic, where the bad CDs go to think about what they did.
Wow, I think I’ve got you all beat with 58.
What the hell are these two: Television Marquee Moon, Radiohead OK Computer???
And why did they put in Paul’s Boutique, when it was such a disapointment after Licensed to Ill? And ‘Synchronicity’ over any of the others? Etc. etc.
I can’t claim the Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye or Van Morrison choices as my own; my wife had them pre-Bill.

They ranked Springsteen’s “Born to Run” above his “Nebraska?” Run is a fun album, but “Nebraska” is the best album of Springsteen’s career.
Unlike just about everyone else, I’m not a Radiohead fan, but Television’s Marquee Moon is a must-own album. They got lumped in with the early CBGB’s “punk” crowd (Ramones, Dictators, Talking Heads [yeah I know they weren’t punk]), but they were really just a great guitar band. You should check it out.
Oh, and I own (or owned) 43.
I owned a few and was happy to see Radiohead on there. They are truely an amazing band. I’m sorry but I have to get this out the Beatles IMO suck so bad. I do not like any of there songs. I know most people are probably think I haven’t given them a chance well that is wrong. I’ve listend to quite a few of their cd’s and I must say it is all garbage to me. But anyways I thought this list was just a bit odd some albums needed to be removed and some added, but that is just my opinion.
I get 38.
I’d concur with tourbot. Some of these are not the best work by these artists by a good margin.
It’s an odd list.
Also- qui sont les Replacements? I had never heard of that band, and to me, “Let it Be” was a beatles album/song. Have you guys heard of them?
I own 11 of them and several others that I know longer own:
2 - Nevermind
6 - Rubber Soul
8 - Abbey Road
18 - Purple Rain
37 - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill
64 - Bitches Brew
66 - Kind of Blue
74 - Paul’s Boutique
80 - My Aim is True
88 - Remain in Light
94 - OK Computer
Zoggie, the Replacements are one of my top 5 favorite bands. They started out semi-punk, but they were just a great rock & roll band. Look for “Unsatisfied” on Napster; it’s probably most people’s favorite song. As far as albums, any of them but the last two (Don’t Tell a Soul and All Shook Down) are awesome.
I know that last post could be read two ways, if you don’t care about punctuation. To clarify: the last two Replacements albums kind of sucked.
