How Many Wearings?

I used to dry-clean my suits a couple of times a year. I’ve still got the same kind of job, but I don’t automatically change into something more robust when I get home. Now the jeans get washed every week, whether it needs it or not.

Jeans I’ll wear until they get dirty or have the slightest smell–that’s still dozens of wears though. But since I dont wear jeans to work, I only wear them for an hour or two at a time. Plus, I often have 2 or 3 pairs of jeans in current rotation, so each has plenty of time to air out before it is worn again. The jeans might get washed once a month at the most.
My work uniform I will wear at least a week before washing. Undershirt and socks are one time use, then wash.

Underwear and socks only once.
Pants, shorts, depends on how they look.
T-shirts once.
Shirts and sweaters worn over T-shirts, once or twice, depends.
Pyjamas and other miscellany, all week.

My suits and really good shirts are dry cleaned when necessary so that’s a special case.

We do all the laundry on Sunday, regular as clockwork. Nothing goes past that.
