How many years has it been since you've gotten a speeding ticket?

Last year.

I think this is what was going on. At the time, I was a bit too flustered to ask questions, didn’t know the law and I didn’t realize the ticket counted as a license so I just gave up the AAA card. I paid the ticket promptly without contesting it and got my AAA card back in the mail a few months later.

I’m 46… been driving for 25 years. No speeding tickets or moving violations. The only ticket I’ve ever gotten was in 1987 for having an expired emissions inspection.

My last actual ticket was about 2.5 or 3 years ago.

In Febuary I got caught doing 121km/h on an 80km/h highway.

Ticket hasn’t arrived yet - it is supposed to be a court appearance (as opposed to just pay the fine).

Fingers crossed it has been lost.

Driving 35 years and never got a speeding ticket. I have a couple of other moving violations, though.

No speeding tickets ever, and one other moving violation (running a pointless stop sign) in 2003.

Been driving for 20 years and no moving violations. Verbal warning for burnt out brake light, Citation for no proof of insurance cancelled when I mailed a copy of my card to the court. One Expired Meter ticket I paid and a Parking in Handicapped Zone cancelled when I sent pictures of the confusing singage.

Ah, nice try. As soon as I start bragging about how long it’s been since I got a speeding ticket, then I will get one. So not gonna tell!

Never got one. Then again, I only got my license to drive without a licensed driver in the passenger seat in mid-February.

I’ve got a police warning for ignoring a posted sign not to turn left onto the expressway at a particular light. :smack: That’s the only time I’ve been pulled over behind the wheel.

Been driving 31 years and have never received a speeding ticket.

The sum total of my driving offences are 1 x driving in a bus lane and 1 x stopping in a yellow box.

47years driving in Ca no speeding tickets, about 60 total days driving in Nevada over the course of many years and 3 speeding tickets, last one was about 6 years ago. I have had one for right turn on a red light where otherwise posted and 2 seat belt tickets.

My last was in 1979. Town of Bonney Lake incorporated a week earlier and dropped the speed limit of the road my sister lived on from 35 to 25. I was nabbed for 32 in a 25. Contested the ticket and had the $35 fine dropped to $5.

Speeding ticket, maybe late 1970s. 1978 or 1979 I think it was. North or West Texas. I received one in each of those regions close apart and don’t remember which was first.

My last ticket was in West Texas shortly after that in the 1980s. I rushed to make a left turn on a signal but ended up going through the intersection after the signal was off. I knew it had happened even before the cop pulled me over, so it was a fair call.

I think those were my only tickets ever. Of course, I’ve not had a car for decades and drive very little now. But I was always generally a safe driver (despite a couple of fender benders, only one of which was my fault.)

Now you’ve gone and made me calculate how long I’ve been driving, and I feel old.

Never been even pulled over for speeding in 23 years of driving. Once I got a bogus ticket for “failing to see it was safe before proceeding,” but I was exonerated.

I tend to keep it within 5mph of the speed limit and I’m more cautious when I don’t have other cars “insulating” me in front and behind.

My only speeding ticket was 20 years ago. I was cited for going 5 miles over the limit.

I got my first speeding ticket last year after 30 years of driving. Got caught on a local highway at 128 kph in a 100 kph zone. I’ve been very lucky but I’ve slowed down a bit since that ticket and use the cruise control a lot more.

But let’s not discuss parking tickets!!

About 7 or 8 years. I didn’t own a car for 3 of those years so I guess that helps a lot, and there were dozens of occasions I got pulled over but did not receive a ticket.

My last ticket was this past May. I was doing 90 mph on a 70 mph highway. No other cars around … or so I thought. I actually didn’t realize I was going that fast and then the po-po came out of nowhere… I honestly didn’t realize my speed had increased that much. When there are other cars on the road with me I usually hang with them.

Ticket cost me $396. I’m in California, by the way. Needless to say, CRUISE CONTROL is my best friend, now. I’ll never let that happen again.

When I was younger and living in another state, 20 or so years ago, I probably got about 6 speeding tickets, all on the highway. All of them for going 5 to 10 mph over the speed limit. I had friends in high places that fixed them for me.

I have had two speeding tickets, one which was reduced to a defective equipment violation at the last minute when I went to go pay a fine and a lawyer friend was there to help me.

My one and only true ticket was December 1981, when I was 20. The other ‘ticket’ was about 15 yrs ago.

I have lost count of the warnings that I have had since then. I can remember warnings in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, and Tennessee.

I’ve had a license for 18 years, and my one and only speeding ticket was 15 years ago.
