How much do you pay for a haircut/style?

10 to 12 bucks at one of the various McCostCutterClips places. Plus tip. I get it cut super short every couple months or so and only go back when it gets unruly.

I’ve gotten some good cuts and some bad ones. Hardly ever get the same person twice – those places must have pretty high turnover.

It helps that I don’t really care what it looks like.

Livin in Troy, NY, I pay $10 before tip ay my campus unisex hair place. Other places run about $10-$15 for a guy’s dry haircut with minimul styling. I have no idea what a woman’s hair cut would be.

$96 bucks for cut and two-process foil highlights, including a 20% tip.

Mr. Levins, OTOH, feels robbed if he pays more than $10.00 for a haircut, tip included.

But he gets his done a lot more than I do.

And my hair looks FABULOUS.

I go to a moderatly upscale salon (in Las Vegas) to get my hair done. A cut costs me about 30 + tip. Color costs about 40 + tip. But my stylist is cool and when I have a cut & color she gives me a “combo” discount.

[My nail lady (at the same salon) is a different story though she is 30 for a fill (most other places is about 15), but she does a darn good job so I dont mind paying extra. I was not happy with the other places]

I live in Alexandria, VA and I just got back from my hairdresser’s. I paid $46.00 for a shampoo, cut, and blowdry, plus tips to the shampoo girl, haircutter and blow dry person. I know it’s expensive, but I only go about 2-3 times a year and I’ve finally found a hairdresser who cuts my hair so well, it looks good even when it’s wet. I do my own haircolor at home though.

I alternate between London and Toronto (the Ontario versions). In London, I get it cut by some incredibly beautiful Portuguese lady. Mostly I get her to cut my hair because I find her attractive and I’m hoping that eventually she’ll ask me out (because I’m a coward). She also happens to be very good, she charges $20. When I decide to get highlights, it’s an extra $50.

When I’m in Toronto, I get my hair cut by some dude (well some dude that owns a very nice salon, the head dude wasn’t always the guy who cut my hair) on Bloor st. who my brother directed me to. It’s been a little while since I got my hair cut there but if memory serves, it was in the $30 range. I’d always get shampooing and all that jazz done too. I never had it highlighted though.

All prices of course are in Canadian dollars. I must apologise but I don’t know exactly how much either of these places cost for a woman, but I think it was about 10-20% more. I know the highlights at the place I went to varied by the length of the hair, not necessarily sex.

Had my haircut a week ago, today. Was $2.99 plus $2.01 tip.

That was a grand opening sale. Normal price is $5.99 plus $4.01 tip.

I like rounding with bills.

I notice a lot of people who posted have included a tip to the hairdresser…

I’m sorry but there is NOOOOOOO way I’m going to give someone a tip who just charged me the unbelievable price of $40.00+ and took him/her all of UNDER 10 minutes. uh uh aint no way…NOPE.

As the highly paid “professional” which they seem to think they are. I would think that THEY would be more concerned as to whether I, the PAYING customer was pleased with their talent and NOT be willing to hold it against me and my non- tip paying ways. Sounds a little like extortion to me. “Hey, Lady you tip well or next time you will PAY,with your hair”.
You’d think they might realize that some people ( moi) had to scrape to be able to afford it in the first place.
Lucky for me I guess that hairdressers are all over the place around here.

It sure has been interesting to see what others pay for haircuts around the world. A real eye opener…

Maybe someone should start an “OH MY GOD!!! LOOK WHAT THEY DID TO MY HAIR!!” post.

When I’m at home, my mother takes out her all-purpose scissors, leans me over the kitchen sink, and whacks off an inch from my hair. I’m not sure what she paid for the scissors. It can’t have been too much.

When I was at boarding school, a friend would take her paper scissors, lean me over the sink, and snip an inch from my hair. Again, the scissors couldn’t have been that pricey.

Now I’m at college. I’ve been to a salon in town. It was not cheap, about $30? I’m thinking that it’s time to do my own hair. I received my scissors as a gift, so it would be a very cheap haircut.

Admittedly, I can get away with it because my hair is straight, and I usually wear it in a ponytail.

I don’t pay a penny - I use my own trimmer and give myself a straight No 3 once a fortnight.

My barber is semi-retired. Shop is only open, Wed., Thurs. & Fri. He charges $7.00 for haircut and $3.00 for shave (straight razor).

$10 AUD (~$7 US), which is about the most common price going with barbers around my part of the world.
