I used to have that problem, but a set of bedsheet clips prevents the sheet from coming loose.
Mostly $25-$50 but we’ve been known to score some good deals under that at store closings. And this is basically for sets including the pillow cases.
I honestly can’t remember when I last bought sheets. I think the newest pair was a gift. The rest are ancient. All pricing has left my memory.
For our California King my gf usually pays $60 for what she considers nice sheets. The last set she bought didn’t have the price marked, but the area where she found them was marked “SALE”.
At the register she discovered they were marked down from $160 to $122. What a bargain, right?!
I asked why she didn’t just cancel the sale. She said she was too embarrassed to be seen as someone who skimped on sheets.
Really good linen sheets can be pricey. I think list on the Williams Sonoma ones was something in the middle two hundreds, marked down to mid 50s or so. They breath marvelously, are soft, yet durable, and are a nice luxury. But yeah, not buying them at list.
Frette and Sferra make wonderful bedding as well, and I’d only get them at similar levels of markdown or more.
Blog post on why thread count is not the be-all, end-all in evaluating bedding quality. What's the best thread count for bed sheets? | The Truth About Thread Count
Seemed to ring true, even if I run screaming from any product marketing blathering on about how ‘authentic’ it is. Tl;dr: better thread materials and weaves make for better sheets, not thread count.
I voted for Less than $25.00, but I was just informed by my SO, who actually buys this stuff, that most of ours cost “between 20 and 40 bucks”. That’s for a regular full/double size bed. If I was doing the buying we’d have whatever was on sale at Walmart for sure.
$25-50 is about right, full size bed. I’ve got three sets, cotton, flannel, and polar fleece. I’m about to switch to my flannels for fall.
Cal King, and the wife says they run right around $50/set, depending on the material. We run cotton in the summer, jersey in the Fall/Spring and flannel in winter.
Same here. My wife likes a certain brand from Macy’s. They usually show up on sale around February and my wife will get a new set. The last set was 50% off, paid $65 instead of the marked price of $130. Nice sheets with deep pockets that stay tucked in.
X2.
Walmart Mainstays microfiber sheets. A full size set costs $15. I like the feel of microfiber sheets and I use my thermostat to keep my bedroom around 74 degrees all year. I’m also a 1 set of sheets person. I do have another tucked away in the very back cupboard in case, but mostly I wash one set and put it back on after it dries.
When the store I work at has queen-size sheets on clearance I go shoppin’ - so I get 'em cheap, sometimes in odd colors, but I’m not looking at them when I’m asleep and during the day I can always cover them with a blanket if they bother me. Which largely they don’t.
