How much do you pay for bed sheets?

I just heard a commercial on the radio and the spokesperson said something to the effect of “These are $1000 sheets for only a couple hundred bucks.” TBH, I didn’t know that such a thing even existed. If I found out that we were paying over $100 for sheets, I’d be pretty upset about it.

Poll coming.

I like nice sheets. But I ain’t stoopid. $100+ for sheets with a designer name don’t intetest me. I’ll go $50+ because I have a kingsize bed.

No idea. I’m guessing somewhere in the $25-50 range.

Lord, I haven’t bought any in ages… let me take a look… a serviceable set from a local mid-range store would be about 25-30€, but other than a couple of sets I’ve mainly been picking up everybody else’s hand-me-downs. My bedsheets don’t always match, but it’s not like I worry much about home décor when I’m asleep and good cotton lasts a surprisingly long time (right now, my pillow sports one of the cases from my mother’s hope chest).

$50 or so and I have a Cal King bed. There’s no sense in paying hundreds of dollars unless they come infused with L-Tryptophan or something.

Goodwill sells them here for 4 bucks a piece. They may not be matchy, but I’m not really bothered by it and they’re usually old worn sheets that are so much softer than the low priced kind you get from Walmart.

25-50 for me, but it was a pattern I really liked at Ikea and it felt too indulgent even at that price.

I generally get mine at IKEA, which has good value and generally low prices, but I get the best they have at any given time, generally measured by thread count. So towards the higher end of the given price range.

King size bed, $50-100.

I have sets from Lands End and they are usually up toward $100, but I don’t get them unless they’re on sale. On sale, they are 40-50 percent off. They last forever, so I don’t get them very often. Last set bought about 2010 and it’s doing fine. (Queen size FTR)

My husband is interested in some bamboo (!) sheets he heard about ( because lower carbon imprint than cotton), but (a) we don’t need sheets right now and (b ) he found a deal where there is $100 off…if there is $100 off then how much do they cost? Too much IMO. If they are $5 after the $100 off, now we’re talking. But it seems like you have to put them in your “cart” to even find the price. Not a good sign.

For my kid’s sheets, he’s rough on the fitted sheet, and slightly less rough on the pillowcases. I get single sheets at Macy’s. Usually there’s something on sale that costs like $9. For some reason pillowcases are way more expensive. But still under $50. (Twin)

This might not be the right audience for this question.

I tend to buy one of the cheapish sheets from Amazon on sale. But at my previous job, I had a client that sold luxury bedding. Expensive enough that if you added the cost of my bed and everything on it (mattress, pillows, bedding, etc.) the total would be less than some of their flat sheets. But they had very happy (and repeat) customers, so they must have known their market.

Pretty much this. I like cotton, and IME decent quality sheets last longer and feel better than super cheap ones; but I always get them on sale.

Voted 50 to 100, but I presume you’re talking about the whole set (top sheet, bottom sheet, two pillowcases), right? I don’t think I’ve ever paid $50 for one sheet by itself.

When I just want an easy-to-wash throw over the top of the bed (I have cats), those I get at the used-goods store; you can fill a bag (so several sheets, or a sheet and a batch of other stuff) for $5 or $6. Choice of colors likely to be limited so if I see something I like when I’m in there I’ll get it even if I don’t need it yet.

I voted 25-50, but we might have spent just over 50 for each of our last 2 King sets. Nice and soft, light enough that they don’t get hot in the summer.

That was 2 1/2 years ago, and we just now are thinking about replacing them.

We buy the Members Mark sheets at Sam’s Club. 450 thread count is a few cents under $25.

Generally about $40. I buy the 300 or 400 thread count sheets from walmart.

I’ve wondered if higher end sheets are worth it, but don’t know where to start.

I pay between $30 and $40 for extra deep pocketed sheets (queen) by companies called Southshore and Sweet Home that correctly fit my mattress and topper that are together 15" high. They’re really soft and almost never pull off the corners.

Boy, I really hate that pull off the corner thing. If I get a fitted sheet that does that it goes in the back of the linen closet. I have found over the years that you don’t really need a million sets of sheets. With the kids beds I kept one set on their bed and one set for emergencies. Less stressful than having to keep up with dozens of pieces of sets. Never bought the character printed ones. They had plain sheets. (Mean Mom)

Cotton flannel or Jersey knit only for me. I don’t remember paying over $30 for them. For those who say they’re too hot, I have air conditioning and a ceiling fan!

Same here; Lands End sheets, which I usually buy as a set for $75-100. The quality is good, and the fitted sheets have the elastic all the way around, not just on the corners. And they were one of the first places to sell extra-deep fitted sheets. (The fitted sheets I’d been using until then tended to come undone in the middle of the night.) Some people switch between two or more sheet sets, but I use the same set week after week, stripping the bed in the morning, doing laundry and then making the bed before bedtime.

I voted $50-$100 because I’ve always been dissatisfied with cheap sheets. Also, sheet sets don’t work for me. I use king flat sheet and king pillowcases (they fit smaller pillows too) but need a deep-queen fitted sheet. It costs more to buy separately, but I do get decent sheets.
