Tipping the ticket taker? Do they still even do that at movies anymore?
I hope we’re not going to end up being expected to tip the gate agent a percentage of the ticket price when we get on a plane. Similarly with conductors on trains.

I take the number of people who sent me Columbus Day cards, and at .001 as a normalizing factor, and divide this figure by the price of the ticket. Then I round down to the nearest dollar.

I usually tip them 15 degrees. I might tip them a full 180 degrees if I’m feeling sporty.
People will sometimes want to go in early and pick their seats… but really, I think that is a disgusting habit.
I stare them in the eye and say: “I know where you live. THAT’S your tip!”

Usually a gobful of abuse. Something along the lines of, “Hurry the fuck up ticket ripping guy, the session is about to start.”
My old mom thinks “money is so IMPERSONAL”. She suggests a nice pair of slippers, or a six-pack of socks.
I think the ticket ripper ought to give me a tip, like “don’t bother going in there, that movie really stinks.” and not noticing when I sneak into other theaters trying to find something worth sitting through.
