How much does USPS charge for insurance?

Their website doesn’t give details. I’m thinking about insurance for items:
$1k
$2k
and
$3k.

Thanks in advance.

Insurance starts at $1.95 IIRC and goes up slowly. Your insurance cost will be around $10-15 for those values I think.
Overall, postal insurance is a bit of a scam, they almost never lose a package. But if you need insurance and not just tracking, it’s available.

Which is not factual enough for General Questions, so let me add some facts: You can’t insure something for more than it costs. And you can’t send cash in the mail.
So, um, whatcha mailing?

Here ya go.

Thanks.

I’m thinking about selling some stuff on ebay, mostly silver. It’s not worth much but I’m hoping to sell in bulk.

Is what they sell actually insurance or a product similar to Declared Value coverage as offered by commercial carriers?
