I’m selling a used Yamaha YTS-100 (basically the Euro version of the 23) on Ebay with the initial price of 500, buy it now for 600. It cost more than 1000 brand new. I was offered 400 for it by one local shop and 150 by another so decided to sell it on ebay. Now someone has emailed me offering to buy it now for 500, and I’m wondering if I should accept. Do you think it will collect more bids and get me more than 500? Other saxes of the same kind are selling on ebay for 200 or 300, so I figure I’m lucky to get 500. Thoughts?
Why not just let the emailer bid $500 and let the auction run its course? I don’t understand why you would do otherwise. As far as “what it is worth”, that is not really important in an auction setting. If the bidding takes it up to $950, then that is what it’s worth.
No, don’t do it outside of eBay; you’re not protected in case of fraud then. Make him bid the 500 dollars, or let him bid 500 dollars with the promise that you’ll end the auction early or something.
