How much money do you have on you right now?

I heard a stat that the average american has 189$ in their pocket at a given time. This is due to the fact that many do not have bank accounts. Here’s my question. How much cash do you have in your wallet, purse, pockets, etc right now? I am interested in whether that statistic is true or not. As it is dangerous to go up to people on the street and ask them, I ask you guys.

I have 101.14 right now.

Thanks!

£35 plus plastic … I think that’s about USD52 (or maybe a bit less).

$16 plus about another $2 in change, I think.

$76.00 plus a load of change

$10.75, and that’s rather high. I have an ATM and credit card, and if I have cash, I spend it (mostly on snacks at work; no will-power).

TMI for your question, but I would rarely carry more. However, when I lived in a small town and running eBay auctions, I would go to the PO and always find someone there buying postal orders to pay bills, pulling great wads of cash outta their pockets.

From the UK, £160 which is a touch shy of $240.

I have $42.99 on me right now. I usually keep about $25 on me.

£160? Blimey. I take it that legislation about not putting cards in phone boxes isn’t affecting you then mate!

$0.00 but I’m willing to take some off your hands…

If you are Nostradamus, and your predictive powers are on the wane, you need to prepare for every eventuality!

Excellent – so who’s going to win the Tory leadership contest? The amount of money I have on me right now could use a boost…

[short hi-jack]

Following a dismal prediction on the football field recently, I am taking a rest from prophecies, but I think Ken Clarke has it by a small margin.

Exactly nil. I try not to carry cash; when I have it, I spend it without paying attention to it.

$74 in paper, $13.34 in change for a total of $87.34.

$50.00 US
$30.00 Canadian
$107.00 Jamacan
$5.00 Australian
£10.00 Irish
£1.00 Scottish
¥47,000 Japanese
F10 Swiss (not sure of correct symbol)

Right now? I have a dime. Oh how I love dimes…so shiny and small and perfect…

$350.98 CAN
I’m guessing that the inverse correlation between wealth and cash in pocket is strong, as the OP states. In my experience, the rich never carry cash, not even for hot dogs and beer on a golf course. Maybe this is how they get rich, by sponging off others!

$9.01

Which isn’t bad until you realize that I started the day off with over $100 US, and I just bought a bunch of crap. And did some check-card purchases. And wrote a few checks.

I actually do think money is going out of style. I spend accordingly.

$295.07. $287.00 in bills and $8.07 in change.

$164 U.S. in bills
A gazillion pounds of change that I gotta dump in my “mad money” jar before my purse breaks my shoulder.

This is more than I usually carry but today was shopping/errands day but I didn’t get to several places, e.g, the dry cleaners, gas station. Paying w/ cash is faster and simpler than writing checks when places are busy.
