How much of the world have you visited?

6 countries, 2%
36 US states, 70%

Via ham radio, I’ve visited 47% of the world and all fifty states.

10 countries (4%)

15 states (29%)

I need to get out more!

Here is a map of the three countries I’ve visited. Cuba is “legitimate” – when I was in college, I was able to join a professor with UN connections on a two-week study trip which took in Havana, Cienfuegos, and points between those cities.

I’ve been to 33 USA states, plus the District of Columbia. As you can see, I need to make my way to the South-Central and Far Western areas of the country. (When I was in my teens, we took a family vacation to Yellowstone. Dad might have briefly crossed into Idaho as he traversed the park, but I’m not sure he did, so I’m not counting that state. After all, I never set foot in it either way.)

Nah, I’ve got you beat. I’ve only been to Canada and the US. I’ve been across the continent west to Vancouver and LA, but they don’t count.

10 countries, 4%. Pretty sad. Especially when you consider that that 10 includes some behemoth nations like the Vatican and the Palestinian Territories. I’m going to at least one more country next month though, yay!

20 states, 39%. (Not including any of the states I’ve only visited on layovers.) I actually have been to most of the huge western states, so I’ve covered more ground than someone who’s spent a lot of time in the itsy eastern states.

24 countries (10%) and 100% of the states.

I thought I’d travelled lots, but it’s a dismally small collection of red splotches, really.

15 countries (6%), and 19 states (37%), but so many more that I want to visit…

I think you get extra points if you ran that route!

A paltry 1% (US, Mexico, Egypt). Egypt was my first overseas trip, though, and I’m now totally hooked on foreign travel. I hope our bank account can keep up with our extensive to-go list.

There is one thing in life, so far, that I haven’t done enough: travel. I have only been to the US, as I live here, and have never been any further. It costs too much, and stupid life is going to get in the way, I’m afraid.

As for states, here is an interesting map of the states I have visited. Starting the farthest west, in Texas, that is where I was born: Houston. The farthest place NE, not New Jersey but Pa, is the farthest place out I have lived. Now, I’m safely in the middle, but hopefully not for long. If I get into the schools I’m doubting I’ll get into, I should add most of the Northeastern US, and hopefully some countries if I study abroad.
