How many countries have you been to?

Myself, just one. My birthplace. But next year, I am hoping to save up enough money to visit Europe. Then my ‘Country count’ shall go up!

So how many countries have YOU visited? If your aircraft had to stop over there for a few hours that counts too. But if it just flew straight over, then it doesn’t count.

So start posting!

USA, Canada, England, France, Italy, Monaco, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Austria, Ukraine

Good luck on your trip! Definitely go East.

Will be getting down under in a few weeks to hit blackjack.

So, if any folks visiting this thread have been to Australia and wish to share their wisdom, please also drop in on Winter Downunder

Okay, I suck. I’m a typical insulated American type.

I’ve only been to three countries, and they’re all part of North America:

Canada
Mexico
and the U.S. (does that even count?)

I am filled with envy and self-loathing!

Two if you count America[the other one’s Iceland], three if you count travels in utero[Germany].

Japan, England, Belgium, Italy, Austria, West Germany (it was in the 80s), Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Mexico. Born in the U.S.

I’ve visited:

Canada, England, Ireland, France, Egypt, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia.

Technically : 9

France was just a stop-over on the way to Cairo – only saw a few hundred yards of airport corridor.

Ditto with Hong Kong. I must say that security in the Hong Kong airport was quite remarkable. Security officers with what appeared to be machine guns strolled through the halls.

Tokyo - same thing. A few hours in the terminal.

Countries I’ve spent at least 48 hours in : 6

Visited - Canada, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Germany, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt.

Stop-Overs - Spain, Ireland, Syria

40 of the 50 U.S. States (icluding Alaska and Hawaii).

Hope to get rest of states out of the way in the next few years. Next summer - back to Europe for an extended tour!!

Countries I’ve spent at least 24 hours in:
Great Britain, Morocco, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Mexico, Guatemala, India, Thailand, China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.

Stopovers: Germany, Switzerland, North Korea(going around the conference table at the Mac Building at the DMZ technically put me in North Korea for five minutes)

38 States

USA, Canada, Germany.

The trip to Germany was only a few months ago, and now that I’ve been once I can’t wait to go back.

As widely-traveled as I like to think I am, the list is rather short:[ul]1) America (my birthplace).
2) Canada (Day trips to Vancouver Island, Waterton International Peace Park, and grocery shopping in Cardston).
3) Germany (2 years – not enough time!)
4) Guam (really only a territory, but it was my first time in the tropics!)
5) Diego Garcia (a tiny dot in the Indian Ocean surrounded by sharks and other exotic wildlife)
6) Korea (interesting food and culture, quite a bit different from back home).
7) Japan (several times in transit to/from the states on leave, but only for a few hours in any case)[/ul]

6; lived in 5 of’em.

Austria
England (Birthplace)
France
Germany
Italy
United States

Canada (that’s home)
Thailand
Mexico
United States
Ireland

Korea, if you count layovers (6 hours)

With many more to come, I hope.

At the tender age of 17 I’ve only been to these countries:

Canada
Mexico (mission trips)
Costa Rica (mission trip)

I hope to go to Paraguay or Bolivia next summer as an exchange student before going to college.

At 13 I had been to:

USA
Iceland
Ireland
France
Luxembourg
Italy

Now I am 18. My life is officially boring.

Now, my mother, on the other hand . . . well, she’s an Army brat. 'Nuff said.

USA, Canada, Mexico, Great Britain (I suppose you could count Scotland also), Ireland, France, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

So…14.

Let’s see…

U.S. (land of the free, home of Ceejaytee)
Germany (lived there for 2 semesters, when it was W. Germany)
East Germany (for 2 weeks)
Austria
Hungary
Italy
France
Switzerland
Belgium (for a couple of hours)
England

[all that in college. Since then…]
Canada
Ireland
New Zealand
Wyoming (oops, not a foreign country)

Apparently I don’t get out much since I got out of college.

Besides my native country (USA), just 1 (Canada). So it should be easy to guess how many continents I’ve been on, too.

Okay let’s see. Using criteria set up by other folks. Countries I have spent more than 24 hours in.

Canada (Home)
United States
Mexico
Germany
Belgium
France
Luxemburg
Switzerland
Austria
Netherlands (Hiya Coldie)
Spain
Portugal
Indonesia
Singapore
Malaysia

15 in total.

and Turkey…so 15.
