Myself, just one. My birthplace. But next year, I am hoping to save up enough money to visit Europe. Then my ‘Country count’ shall go up!
So how many countries have YOU visited? If your aircraft had to stop over there for a few hours that counts too. But if it just flew straight over, then it doesn’t count.
Canada, England, Ireland, France, Egypt, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia.
Technically : 9
France was just a stop-over on the way to Cairo – only saw a few hundred yards of airport corridor.
Ditto with Hong Kong. I must say that security in the Hong Kong airport was quite remarkable. Security officers with what appeared to be machine guns strolled through the halls.
Countries I’ve spent at least 24 hours in:
Great Britain, Morocco, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Mexico, Guatemala, India, Thailand, China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
Stopovers: Germany, Switzerland, North Korea(going around the conference table at the Mac Building at the DMZ technically put me in North Korea for five minutes)
As widely-traveled as I like to think I am, the list is rather short:[ul]1) America (my birthplace).
2) Canada (Day trips to Vancouver Island, Waterton International Peace Park, and grocery shopping in Cardston).
3) Germany (2 years – not enough time!)
4) Guam (really only a territory, but it was my first time in the tropics!)
5) Diego Garcia (a tiny dot in the Indian Ocean surrounded by sharks and other exotic wildlife)
6) Korea (interesting food and culture, quite a bit different from back home).
7) Japan (several times in transit to/from the states on leave, but only for a few hours in any case)[/ul]
USA, Canada, Mexico, Great Britain (I suppose you could count Scotland also), Ireland, France, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina.
U.S. (land of the free, home of Ceejaytee)
Germany (lived there for 2 semesters, when it was W. Germany)
East Germany (for 2 weeks)
Austria
Hungary
Italy
France
Switzerland
Belgium (for a couple of hours)
