How nice. My bank is handing out Christmas cake

I’ve just been to the bank branch across the road from my office. The staff are wandering around giving out Christmas cake to all the customers.

A pleasant gesture. And rather delicious cake too!

It must be International Bank Treats Day. My bank had little cupcakes and very good cookies (I got a nice chewy cookie with coconut and nuts). And Coke, but I don’t drink sodas, so I didn’t really care about that. But it was a nice thing for them to do.

Hmm. Tomorrow is payday. I haven’t gotten direct deposit set up yet, so I’ll be going to the bank. Maybe they’ll feed me!

Fruitcake?

Let it sit for a few weeks. They make great doorstops.

Nice touch by that bank, Cunctator. All I got from mine today was the question, “And how will you celebrate Christmas”? Bah, humbug … (which was the essense of my reply).

Today the store section of my workplace had a huge buffet spread for all customers, retail and contracters. Sandwiches of all types (some made on croissants! Mmmm!), fried chicken, chicken wings, BBQ chicken, a huge veggie tray, an antipasto tray, shrimps, devilled eggs, hot meatballs (kept warm in crockpots), a giant fruit tray, cupcakes as big as your head (that’s not entirely facetious), brownies, cookies, several types of soda in cans on ice, all for free and all in appreciation of our customers. Oh, yeah, and a ham! A whole huge ham!

Still tonnes of leftovers, even though it was very busy. Some customers asked me when we were closing our doors to have our party, and I had to tell them, no, honestly, this is for you! We kept our normal hours and the food and drink was free. You didn’t even have to buy anything.

We’re not a bank, though. I’m just pleased we pulled it off and managed to clean it all up nicely and with many doggie bags to take home by closing time. I didn’t have to cook any supper tonight.

Sorry. It was the most fun I’ve ever had at a place of business/retail. But free cake is nice, too!
