It’s hard to answer this one. Depends on whats in my freezer. Every other year or so a friend’s brother butchers a hog he’s raised and be buy half. Every year we buy a side of beef for the freezer. We eat more beef than pork, but we like pork. If we don’t have it in the freezer, I sometimes don’t think of buying it at the store. We’re almost out of pork at the moment.
My wife is a big pork fan, while I’m generally a take it or leave it kind of guy about it. My sons are absolute bacon fiends.
So in practical terms, since she does most of the cooking, we have pork roughly 1/3 of the time, in one fashion or another. One of my favorites is this pork/mushroom/potato/tomatillo Mexican stew.. I also like this recipe for pressure-cooker carnitas.
Much less than other meats, but there are times I choose it even when there are other options. So I chose “other”.
Not a big fan pork loin or chops, but do like ham, pulled pork, bacon and sausage.
Rarely. I don’t like eating pigs.
I love pork; always have.
First, my oldest daughter turned hard-core vegan and tried shaming me for eating animals. But, my youngest daughter remained omnivore, bordering on carnivore, so we just laughed at her and continued eating pig and all other tasty animals.
Then, my youngest daughter turned vegan and I found myself out-voted 2 to 1. Now, I can only eat bacon, et al, clandestinaly (i.e. almost never).
Now, against my better judgement, I eat mostly soy-bean pseudo-pork/chicken/beef facsimaly products that taste like sawdust patties fried in mineral oil. Lucky me.
It may extend my life an extra day or two, but at what cost?!?
Orthodox Jewish, so never. But I’m not vegetarian, I love me some chicken.
Pork is the only mammalian muscle meat I eat. Along with chicken, fish, and organ meats ( heart and liver of beef and chicken). I eat pork as a cut of meat, or sausage, or bacon.
Canadian bacon (pork loin) with hash browns and over easy eggs. And sourdough toast, coffee, juice. Three days a week.
Lately we’ve been eating as much pig as we have turkey, chicken, cow, deer, etc.
Our neighbors are farm folks and they’ve been raising a few pigs each year. We get a half or whole pig at reduced cost.
I eat pork somewhat less than beef but average about once a week. Had a terrific pork chop last night.
Alas, the diet means less pulled pork.
I eat pork more than any other meat, but only because it’s just dirt cheap where I am. Just absolutely the cheapest sandwich and grilling meat.
I should try that with a brine solution… A few years ago I read an article saying I should coat a pork loin with sea salt and let it sit uncovered in the refrigerator overnight, and this would improve the taste (after wiping it off, of course). It did come out delicious, as I recall, but I tried it a second time and it was disappointing. And way way too salty.
Brining helps, but with pork loin, the trick for me is not overcooking it. Take it out at around 135- 140f. If you’re a little unused to pink pork or a little squeamish, brine and take it to 155-ish.
A lot more often since my daughter became a Hindu and will no longer eat beef.
My situation didn’t fit any of the options. I eat pork less than other meats, but more because it’s fussier to cook. Mostly, I eat chicken, rarely beef, but I do eat pork when I make Green Chile Stew (which is delicious). I’ll also BBQ a pork tri-tip from time to time, and if you get it right, it’s very good. But pork is just less forgiving than other meats in terms of cooking time.
I’ve come to the conclusion that chicken, 90% of the time, is a super boring non-ingredient, so dishes that most people would get with chicken, I will either forego meat entirely, or get a pork version instead.
I selected the first option, because I probably consume pork more often than other meats, though I’m still not sure if that actually qualifies as “frequently”
I don’t find that to be the case at all. Loin is as finicky as chicken breast, but shoulder/butt is as forgiving, if not moreso, than chuck.
I eat pork frequently, but I don’t prefer it to other meats. Do I eat it as often as other meats? Maybe, maybe not. So ‘None of these answers describes my choices.’
We have bacon every Saturday. We might have bacon on Sunday, or we might have pork sausages, or we might have a different meat. I’ve been eating ham since Easter. BBQ pork ribs and BBQ pork butt are in the dinner rotation. Every so often, I’ll get a bag of chicharróns, or even go to the Mexican market to get real ones.
But we also eat beef, chicken, fish, snails, shrimp…
I chose the last choice.
Bacon has become too expensive but I love bacon so I try not to have it in the house but I love bacon, did I say I love bacon? I love to dip bacon in pancake syrup. I love bacon chewy but still I would eat crispy too. Burnt bacon? How dare anyone let that happen?? I love bacon
I dont like pork roast but stick it with bbq sauce, I hog on it!
I love bacon, in case you missed that.
(Can we commoners not do spoilers?) Spoiler tags anyway (I love bacon, damnit!)
Not the cheap brands though! Store brand is ok. No maple flavoring even though I dip the regular bacon in my syrup as I mentioned aforethought!
I wish I could have pork chops once a week but too expensive. We get our beef practically free so meat otherwise is too expensive. I buy ribs and chops when its on sale and the ribs are this week so I’ll be buying a rack. Husband likes the kind where you get lots of meat on them, I like that too but I was raised on the slab rib type so I like those! Easier and quicker to cook
But in conclusion, I love bacon. No really, I LOVE BACON…I love Jar Jar too. I cant help it. Bacon be good. Bacon morning noon and night, Snacking on bacon. Bacon bacon BACON…I cant quit, BACON…gaga for bacon…:D:D:eek::):dubious:
umm yeah, you know what I want to say…
