My gf’s brother got us a subscription to this magazine, Mental_Floss for Christmas. While I think it could be denser, less glossy(more post-recycled etc), and less flashy…I’m still glad I get to read it.
Are there any other Mental_Floss readers out there?
It’s kinda interesting, I got the lady a subscription as part pf her BDay present last year.
I think they play up the “you sure are smart if you read our magazine” card. It’s certainly not Proust or Voltaire you’re reading here…but it is good bathroom / short attention span reading – Interesting articles and fun trivia. As I said, it’s mildly annoying the way they try to position themselves as being so highbrow.
Having said that, I do like it and will probably renew the subscription when it comes up.
I think it’s a very cool magazine. I don’t think it tries to be highbrow; in fact, it seems to push itself on those of a short attention span. 
I like how it jumps from subject to subject instead of spending so much time on any one thing.
That said, I found the latest issue (the 10 issue) kind of boring.
