Just watched the Morgan Freeman classic today. Always good for a watch.
But how real was it? Anyone familair with the real Joe Clark. I heard he ran into some trouble after the events portrayed in the film. Anyone have an update?

Joe Clark spoke at my college about 15 years ago, not long after the movie came out. Have to say I wasn’t impressed with him. I found his talk rather insubstantial, and it made me suspicous of how the events of his tenure as principal were portrayed in the film.
Good movie, although I don’t take it as fact. I thought it was one of Morgan Freeman’s better roles.
He taught at my high school’s rival…but I guess thats the only thing I can contribute.
Joe Who?
I remember the small controversy when that film came out. The bit about him chaining the doors shut was true. And he did walk around the school with a bullhorn. But rest was fiction. In particular, a huge majority of the students did not miraculously pass their final exams.
Please, I gotta’ post this. It’s the first I’ve noticed this thread, and while about to click on it, the TV[yes, I’m multi-tasking] has a commercial and the background music is, care to guess? “Lean on Me”. Any connection between the film and the tune?
Just that the tune was used as a theme song.
