First a comment: I remember thinking this movie was not funny when I first saw it. But I watched it again yesterday and was suprised to find it pretty amusing. Don’t know what happened. Maybe I got more of the jokes, having seen several John Hughs films for the first time since then.
Anyway, the quesion: Is there a reason they brought out Melissa Joan Hart for the cameo in which she corrects someone for starting a “slow clap” sequence at the wrong time? I get the joke about the slow clap of course, but was there a reason they wanted her in particular to do that bit?

This is only a WAG, but it could have been (for lack of a better term) an homage to her role in Can’t Hardly Wait as Vicky, yearbook girl.
Saw parts of it last night and it looked fairly amusing. Could Lacey Chabert be any hotter? Good lord that girl done grow up right!
I’d agree; I don’t think she was in a lot of “teen movies” aside from that, though her stints on Clarissa and Sabrina make her pretty well-known in the same demographic.
And I’d like to say that this is actually one of my favorite movies. Let us all now bow our heads and thank Og for the existance of Chyler Leigh.
Also, Marilyn Manson’s Tainted Love video has a lot of the cast in the video. Depending on which version you find, it may not be SFW.
