Your own reallife experience mirrored in TV/movie

Any stories here about things you’ve said/experienced or local events which weren’t big national news, and then you saw something amazingly similar on TV or in a movie.

I’ve got two-

Early 1980s-In college, after Michael Jackson’s hair-combustion accident, a friend said "I guess that adds new meaning to “Beat It.”

Within a month, on SNL, Robin Williams as William F. Buckley Jr said the same thing.

Also, around the same era, we had a scandal in which the male High School Choir Director had a special relationship with some of the teen guys in the music department. around the same time he had directed the high school musical of Oklahoma. Within that year, SNL has a skit with Joe Piscopo as an ephebophile choir director coming on to his male students while directing Oklahoma (with a joke on “Oklahomo”) and Piscopo was made up with a fringe of gray hair, balding in the middle & a goatee- EXACTLY LIKE THE CHOIR DIRECTOR REALLY LOOKED!
I still wonder if someone at SNL that year had some connection to this area.

Don’t know if it’s the same, but my ex wrote a fanscript for the Simpsons about Bart being pushed back to the third grade and Lisa getting promoted to it, and two years later they made an episode with that very same plot. I have to say, his was funnier.

No movie or TV, but there once was a book, Trying Hard to Hear You, based on things that happened to me and a group of friends one summer. One of the characters is strongly based on me, and they’re all based on people I knew.
