I have a fairly nice Tissot watch that I need to sell because I need the money. I’m not exactly sure on the best way to go about selling it. What is the best way to sell it to get the most money? Or alternatively what way would be the least trouble and allow me to get rid of it as fast as possible?
An advertisement on craigslist or other local BBs. Maybe EBay.
A pawn shop?
This is the exact watch I want to sell by the way:
Woohoo!! Nice timepiece. I’ve never worn one myself, other than this old thing.
Vetbridge,
I am not up on the costs of tattoos but I guess you spent more on that watch than pool spent on his.
Actually, it was done by a buddy (as were most of mine). No cash changed hands. Lots of barter/trade/favors between all parties.
I have sold quite a few quality watches on ebay in the last few years.
Your best bet for a quick sale is to sell it to a person you know who wants a deal, but if you want to sell it for sure put it on ebay. Used versions of your watch have sold for between 122 and 150 in the last 30 days.
I would say you should get 100-150 no problem.
Hope this helps
Any idea what '70s vintage Rolex Subs are going for nowadays? I had mine overhauled (by Rolex) last year, but it’s easier to wear the GMT II. I haven’t decided if I should sell the Sub, or to keep it for when I send the GMT II in for an overhaul.
You are still my hero.
I have always wanted one of those (a vintage Rolex Sub).
Keep it.
Not only can you wear it while waiting several months for your other to come back, but it’s cool to mix them up a bit when you find yourself getting too used to one.
I wouldn’t sell a watch like that unless it was to finance a new watch :).
I’ve been thinking about picking a sea dweller up, here is a couple of links I have looked at.
This seemed like a great resource for Rolexes.
Johnny If you decide to sell it, let me know. I have been lusting after a sub for years.
[nitpick]Sorry, I help but notice that the time is off. The date is wrong as well[/nitpick]
I’ve got quite a collection of watches, but I’m guessing none really hold their value. The ones which I was able to purchase for a fraction of their list price, including a Piaget, would be worth more than I paid, but I don’t want to give them up.
No shit. If you are going to post a picture if a watch showing the 3rd as the date, don’t have the camera file date showing the 6th.
In fairness it probably displays the correct time more often than any watches you and your friends wear…
In fact it displays the exact time twice every day.
I don’t know about eBay. I’ve tried to sell watches onm ebay a couple of times and got no bids.
Looking through the completed listings, it seems like fewer than half sell at all, and the ones that do sell don’t get a very good price.
Johnny,
The most value in a 70s sub is for the “red letter” submariner. The word submariner is written in red insted of white. Which type do you have?
Its probably a #1680 with date. With the white lettering about $3500 to $4500 with red about $6000 to $9000.
In my area.
PS I bought a red letter off a newspaper ad for $400 about 10 years ago.
MrPeabody
I’d have to find the paperwork for the model number, but it’s late-'70s, not red, non-date. (A non-date was good enough for Jimmy!)
Incidentally I’ve noticed that the price of a new GMT II has risen 45% since I bought mine.
Dudes, if any of you do any research on the prices of a used/vintage Rolex Sub in good working order (and there’s a slightly bigger similar version?) could you come back and post them?
