How smart are you?

I wonder if 30 is the perfect score then? Did anyone count the questions?

Damn my ignorance on rap music!

I only got a 21. I was kind of angry at the whole quiz. Serious, does not knowing Tupac make you stupid? (I got that one, but still) The same goes for the Mitsubishi question. I figure that should be titled slightly different.

‘Affect’ is a verb. ‘Effect’ is a noun. Did that produce the desired effect?

Dumb IQ quiz but I scored a solid 27. You are 44.4% smarter than average.
Average score is 18.7 at this point with 1128 test takers so far.

There is this disclaimer on the results:

I think some people are a little bit sore about their results. The fact that this is called the Smart or Stoopid test should be a pretty big hint that it is not meant to be taken seriously.

28, and I blanked on the exact same questions.

If there were 30 total questions I would assme those were the ones I got wrong.

…yep, Google tells me that Tupac Shakur did “Hit 'Em Up” (I guessed Biggie Smalls), and that it’s the Mitsubishi Evolution (I guessed Nissan).

The other questions were mostly all just trivia questions. Except for ones like the “which of these letters of the alphabet comes after K but before R” or “how much change from $10 do you get from 2x$2.75” that anybody should get right, but some people might freak out over due to the ticking clock and then randomly guess wrong.

Yes, or their specific disclaimer I posted above that says it is not serious.

I scored 28, which it said was 50.8% smarter than average. And it said I was “smarter than the average bear”; I had no idea that ursine IQ has been the subject of formal study.

They did a comprehensive study of intelligence in bears at Jellystone National Park back in 1961.

“Effect” is also a verb in certain circumstances, but not in the test. As a verb, “effect” is a synonym for “cause,” as in: “Smoking effects cancer”; ie, “smoking causes cancer.” Whenever I use it verbally, I pronounce the initial E long, to make sure people know I’m not saying “affects.”

Now go lay down in the corner and ax yourself if effecting airs is worth annoying your grammatical inferiours.

(It surely is, in my book!)

But I doubt everyone read that. Surely everyone saw “Smart or Stoopid?” in big letters on the first page.

28, FWIW. Like a lot of you, I guessed on the car and rapper q’s.

Actually from some of the complaints, I am not sure anyone saw it.

I was getting a little annoyed with the test when it asked about Evolution and the Rap song also. I am not sure what else I messed up.

24, but that kind of fast moving stuff really janks my ass.

23, and I have to make the token protest that it’s a little too US-centric.

Since many people seem baffled by the “Hit 'Em Up” question - the song was done by 2Pac. The track was actually a rather mean-spirited attack on several other rappers, especially the Notorious B.I.G., in which he claimed to have slept with his wife (his wording of the event was a little more colorful).

  1. Don’t know about beer, cars, or rappers.
