Since many people seem baffled by the “Hit 'Em Up” question - the song was done by 2Pac. The track was actually a rather mean-spirited attack on several other rappers, especially the Notorious B.I.G., in which he claimed to have slept with his wife (his wording of the event was a little more colorful).

Considering that his inspiration was when they shot him 5 times and then continued to talk shit about him, I forgive him for writing a “mean-spirited” song.
