Wow, the author of How Stella Got Her Groove Back is filing for divorce from the young hunky Jamaican guy she hooked up with.

Story

For those of you who didn’t read the book or see the movie, it’s about how an older woman went to Jamaica and met and fell in love with a charming 20 year old man. The author, Terry McMillan, based this on her own life experience.

Well, it turns out the young husband is gay. She accuses him of using her just to gain U.S. citizenship. So, there goes the theory of that book: a much younger man is just the thing to rev you up in middle age. Darn! She had me believing it for awhile.

But I have a question: why has it taken this long for her to realize that he’s gay? Bi I could understand, but outright gay? I think the cat would have been out of the bag within a week of the marriage.

It isn’t that she realized he’s gay. It’s that he has stated himself that he is gay.
