There’s a series on UK TV just now called “Empire” about, not surprisingly, the history of the British empire. My flatmate said her boss would be keenly watching as she is always going on about how “proud” she is of the empire.

So last week my flatmate comes home saying that when she asked her boss if she’d watched the programme, her boss looked a little troubled and said “I never knew that Spain and France had little empires of their own.”:dubious:

This week, the boss’s comment was that she hadn’t known that Britain had once ruled what became the USA:eek: :smack: :rolleyes: .

So what are your favourite examples of inconceivably mind boggling ignorance?

Shit, what are the chances of that?; I start a thread only to discover that someone’s revived a massive one on the same topic from about a year ago. I hadn’t been reading the boards for a few days and missed it; sorry.
