Whenever I download a video off the 'net, it says it can’t find “Real Player” and I can’t play the video. I can understand this since I have remover Real Player from this machine.
I can save the video to the HDD and open it with Windows Media Player.
So how do I direct the video to not look for Real Player and use a different video player to watch the video??
Hold down the Shift key and right-click on the file. Select Open With. If you’re using Windows XP, hit Choose Program. Check the box for Always use the selected program to open this kind of file and select Windows Media Player. This will change the file association so it will always use Media Player for that file type.
Open your My Computer window, Select Tools, Folder Options. Select the File Types Tab. Scroll down to what ever file extension you are interested in changing (movie files come in many types; mpg, mpeg, avi, wmv, rm, qt, mov, etc…) select the “Change” button, select your preferred application for opening the file type. Select Ok, Ok. You’ve just reassociated that extension with a new default program.
Or you can do what Number says. It’ll have the same effect.
