How to clear files played list from Widows Media Player?

Everytime I play a video clip on my computer using Windows Media Player, it adds the name of the clip at the bottom of the “File” drop down submenu. The list has the names of the last 9 clips that were played.

How do I clear the list? Also is there a way such that WM player does not create the list in the first place?
