I am tasked with helping to develop a Google Site on a new project, and wasn’t sure if there’s a way to create sub-folders to store project information. For example, right now we have:
Section A
Section B
Section C
But would like to have
Section A
----Sub-section 1
----Sub-section 2
Section B
----Sub-section 1
-------Sub-section a
-------Sub-section b
-------Sub-section c
----Sub-Section 2
Section C
----Sub-section 1
----Sub-section 2
Is this possible, and if so, can you explain or point to how to do this?
FWIW, I am reading through this section of help Sites Help and may find this, but wanted to sort this out quickly.
When you create a new page, it’ll ask you where to place it inside the hierarchy. Just choose Section A, B, C, etc. as the parent for the sub-section pages.
The default template for Section A, B, C, etc. should already show the sub-page listings at the bottom, but you can also manually include a more visible sub-page listing through the Insert menu.
I can create a sub-page this way, but I’m actually looking at creating folders to store project documents. Someone else already create the page with folders, but I can’t seem to create sub-folders. It would be possible but not necessarily the best case to create these sub-pages and then finally have folders once we get to the right level. Of course I’m probably missing something.
I can move to an existing folder or create a new folder. There doesn’t seem to be an option to create a sub-folder (folder subordinate to an existing folder) or move to a folder subordinate to an existing folder.
No, you can’t create subfolders. You can, however, create pages with files and folders in them, and more pages with links to those “filing cabinet” pages. It doesn’t look like you can put links in filing cabinets, nor can you put files on the links pages, but this at least allows some degree of nesting.
My mistake – you can put “attachments” on standard web pages. Also, you can just nest the pages so they appear as a tree in the sidebar, instead of links on the page.
