How to keep ALL my minimized Word docs from popping to life when I open just one?

This has got to be dumbest Word feature ever invented. I’ve got a bunch of documents minimized at the bottom of my screen, I open one and they all fly open like a flock of scared pigeons.

I hope this is a disableable function; but if so, I have not a clue how to turn it off. Can anyone help a fellow Doper out?

More details needed: Windows version? Office version?

Try pressing CTRL + F6 to cycle through the documents. Don’t worry about minimizing your documents. Leave all your documents up and use CTRL + F6 to switch from one document to the next.
