How to make a really good turkey sandwich?

Maybe a slice of firm tomato as well.

Another idea is warm turkey and warmed sweet-potato/yam - especially if they were cooked with marshmallows… mmmmm…

My Subway version of a turkey sandwich consists of: turkey (hence the name), bacon, provolone cheese, lettuce, onion, green pepper, mayo, spicy mustard, salt/pepper, and a dash of oil on whole wheat bread.

That’s good eating!

Love it with just lettuce, mayo and pepper. Tried one yesterday with Thousand Island dressing, and that was very good too!

Ooh, turkey, lettuce and honey mustard…

Ya’ll got me going now! I want turkey!!!

Three of my favorite turkey sandwiches:

Turkey, Miracle Whip (Yes, I said it!) and salt on potato bread.

Turkey, stuffing and homemade cranberry sauce on potato bread.

Grilled turkey - spread potato bread with raspberry preserves. Top with turkey and cheddar and put together. Grill in pan like a grilled-cheese sandwich.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

2 words: Turkey Jerky

Turkey and a light mashed potatoes. Dust with paparika and serve between 2 slices of toasted italian bread.

It’s almost like you were reading my mind…This right here is TRUELY the sandwich! (Although I usually eat it w/o the knife and fork… so that it leaves a big messy plate that requires mopping up with a third bread piece.

Turkey
Creamcheese
Stuffing
Cranberry Sauce
White Bread

or

Turkey
Avacado
Bacon, or a slice of Swiss
Tomato
Alfalfa Sprouts
Bread
Mayo
Pepper

Whole wheat bread. Mayo, lightly, on both slices. Lettuce, turkey, a little provolone or swiss cheese.

Then a healthy dollop of Tabasco directly on the turkey.

let’s see…start with some yummy crusty sourdough, spicy brown mustard, crispy lettuce and turkey. Then, give the turkey to the dog and put some pastrami and corned beef on your sandwich.

I know it makes me a Communist, but I can’t stand turkey. You have to douse it with gravy just to eat it (though a version with copious quantities of tarragon and butter was decent). My family had filet mignon for Thanksgiving.

As I read all of these, I’m realizing (and not for the first time) that there are serious disadvantages to having Thanksgiving dinner at someone else’s house. No leftovers!

Cricket
(who’s thinking maybe she should go buy and roast a turkey anyway!)

Okay… I dissed the avacado, but I realized that I didn’t offer anything to the conversation, so here goes:

White bread, pref french bread
Loads of mayo
Spicy Honey Mustard (pref Boars Head brand)
Swiss Cheese
The Turkey (of course)
Sliced tomato
lettuce
jalapeno peppers

heat it, throw it on a sandwich press cuban style, and last but not least:

A dish of barbeque sauce in which to dip the sandwich.

You had me untill the peppers.

AWAY WITH YOU!!!

damn you, aurelian! I had my post all written in my head, and you’ve trumped me! :wally

Substitute fresh boiled bagel for your sourdough, thick 35%-fat cream cheese for your mustard, half-pickled-in-brine cues for your lettuce and marvelous Norwegian smoked salmon for your pastrami (I’m giving the turkey to my cat, BTW), and we have EXACTLY the same idea. Amazing.

Turkey
Bread
Mayo
Pepper

Eat. [HOMER] Ummmm…turkey… [/HOMER]

Love Lindyhopper’s idea – that’s my “special” post-Thanksgiving turkey sammich except I’ve never heated the turkey & stuffing before, so I’ll have to try that in the future.

Someone else mentioned another turkey sandwich that is really good: mix soft cream cheese with cranberry sauce (I prefer whole berry but I think jelled may work best here), spread on a flour tortilla, cover with turkey slices, maybe a bit of romaine lettuce, then roll up the tortilla and enjoy.

Well…first, you must remove his mortarboard hat…
