How To Provide Link To Sample Of Music?

Someone online is hiring musicians and requests a link to a sample of the music. What is the most low-tech way that I can provide a sample of my music online? I don’t have a camcorder, although I do have a cassette tape recorder.

It’s doubtful the most low tech way to do it is the best way to secure a paying contract. The most low tech way I can think of would be to perform directly into the computer’s microphone and use some basic freeware software to record. I think you’ll be wasting your time though.

The tape recorder would definitely be low tech. But not the easiest since you would have to feed that into a computer and make an mp3 or other audio file out of it. But it should work

But if the OP is looking for simple and easy way to do it, then many mp3 players and phones have a function to record through a built in microphone These would already be in a digital format, you just need to be able to connect the device to a computer and transfer the files. Of course, that assumes that the OP has access to such a device.

Why don’t you just use a mic and record it?

If you don’t want to spend any money, you can set up a free Google Voice number, call it from a phone, and record the music into the phone. You can then download the recording as a MP3 and email it to them.

Both methods will sound like crap. If you’re trying to get hired with the sample, don’t you want it to sound good?

Pay a college kid or another musician $10 to record you. Somebody in your town’s bound to have the equipment. Try a Craigslist ad.

As for how to link to it once you have it in a digital format, one way would be to upload it to a Dropbox account and then create a link to it from Dropbox.
