Yes, I know: ‘Never read the comments.’ I can’t resist. I also can’t resist commenting on comments. So I do. I may get an email saying ‘[Name] replied to your comment on [article title]’, and there’s a button that says, ‘[Reply to [name]’.
When I click on the Reply button, I’m taken to the comments and very briefly see the comment in question. Then the page reloads to a state where it shows the top comments. In order to reply to the reply, I have to scroll down, load more comments, and repeat – often many times – until I find the comment I want.
Is there a way to go directly to a comment? Like a ‘Reply to [name]’ button that actually takes you to the comment?
In my experience with comment notifications via email, there is usually a button to merely view the comment on the site (rather than reply to it). I take it that option isn’t available?
I found a solution just now. When you click the reply button and go to a different point in the conversation, you should see your username in bold on the left, and then on the right you should see a BELL (notifications) and a gear wheel (settings). At least this is the case on a Chrome web browser on a PC. Click on the BELL and your notifications appear in a new window. Click on the notification you want to reply to and it will take you right there and it doesn’t jump to anything else and you can reply!! I was struggling with this for a while and just noticed you can do this.
