How to search for an all in one kitchen sink + cabinet

Mods, feel free to move if this belongs in another forum.

On the Home Depot and Lowes sites it’s simple to find an all-in-one bathroom sink and cabinet, under “bathroom vanity”: https://www.lowes.com/pl/Bathroom-vanities-with-tops-Bathroom-vanities-Bathroom-vanities-vanity-tops-Bathroom/4294684460

However I’ve spent over an hour looking for a kitchen equivalent and it seems that all the components are separate, one has to pick a sink and a cabinet to go with it, as well as the countertop. All I found when it came to all in one was this:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Transolid-TC-2420-WC-24-in-All-in-One-Laundry-Utility-Sink-Kit-White-Stainless-Steel/247787027?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=426&&adid=22222222227280667277&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=339474273771&wl4=aud-430887228898:pla-663443001013&wl5=9004433&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=111830430&wl11=online&wl12=247787027&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQjwu8r4BRCzARIsAA21i_AHwIS3j3kt4JhvFQNbC-rnpc563WGbtFfQwY810bMH7CRzqRNIqf4aAjt8EALw_wcB

Or am I just not searching correctly?

For anyone wondering, why not just pick out the separate components and put them together, I don’t really know how to sort through all the different options. I just want something basic.

It’s for a small cabin in the woods over an hour away from the nearest Home Depot and Lowes. The current kitchen sink is from the 1970s and hasn’t been replaced because finding a local handyman is complicated; none of us in our household have the necessary skills. If we can bring an all in one sink & cabinet that would be simple for a local handyman to install, that would make the job much easier.

Take a hint from walmart and search for “All-in-One Laundry/Utility Sink Kit”

Why not just buy whichever cabinet, sink and counter top you want, assemble it at home and then transport it to the cabin? What does an all-in-one unit give you that that wouldn’t?

Said another way, the product the OP is looking for is a very weird niche product. Almost nobody buys something like that. HD & Lowes are mass-market stores that only sell products they can move by the thousands / millions. Yes, stores in/near ruralia carry a different product mix than suburban or urban stores, but not that different.

SInce you’re looking to outfit a cabin, you might try looking at some online RV supply places. I’m no expert on RV’s, but that smells to me like the sort of thing they just might have. Although probably only small stuff like e.g. a 12" sink. If you’re looking for something big like a 24" sink that’s almost certainly not gonna be found in an RV store.

Good luck! And tell us what you finally found where.

On the other hand, by the time you buy the cabinet, counter top (and have it cut to fit the sink), sink, faucet, fittings and caulk, I’ll bet you’re over the $400 or so that the product you already found costs.

Kitchen sinks will always be sold separately - you want your sink cabinet to match your other cabinets. That’s not as big an issue in a bathroom or a laundry room. You need to look for utility/laundry sinks. There isn’t a huge selection, because most laundry/utility sinks don’t have a cabinet - they’re just a tub on legs.

Exactly! Not to mention the issue of finding parts that fit together.

@pjd good hint, I found this, $140 less than the one at Walmart:

@doreen, thanks for the explanation; that hadn’t occurred to me. I really don’t know that much about home improvements and to me one simple white kitchen cabinet doesn’t really look too different from another. I know that it does matter a lot to some people–earlier today I heard about a relative trying to decide on the perfect molding for their renovation and looking at 20 different samples.

Have you checked IKEA?

There’s this item for super basic…

https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/sunnersta-mini-kitchen-s29393399/

but it looks like they have a base cabinet with sink as well
https://www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/knoxhult-kitchen-white-s59393331/

@brainstall, thanks, I did look at IKEA. Looking for something less basic than the super-basic option. The Knoxhult option was tempting but it’s out of stock in the 4 stores within 50 miles of me and they’re not delivering it or doing delivery-to-store pickup. Maybe just as well, we’d go crazy trying to assemble it and would probably just end up paying $$ to have it assembled.

One of the reasons is that kitchens are all custom designed. The cabinets are available in a wide range of sizes in 3" increments. The sink cabinet has to fit into the plan for that wall. You don’t just buy a “standard” sink cabinet and stick it in the middle as the wall might be any dimension.

That said a sink cabinet is probably going to be 30" to 36" and sinks are made to fit those sizes. Then the countertop goes over the entire wall of cabinets.

A bathroom is different as the vanity is often the only cabinet involved so many people just choose from those available rather then build a custom row of cabinets. The bath countertops are made to fit the common widths of the vanity.

@brainstall, we went to IKEA today looking for the Knoxhult base cabinet and sink, since the handyman we found told us to look there and said that he would put together stuff from there at a reasonable price.

PSA for anyone going to IKEA btw, they are super busy! We had to wait in line 35 minutes before getting into the store, 20+ minutes to check out, and 20 minutes for the item to be brought out of the stock rooms. And their numbers for items in stock are off. According to their website they had 3 of the sink&cabinets in stock (which was why we went today, to try and grab one before it was too late) but at the store they said that they’d been out of stock for weeks.

However, surprisingly the super basic item was a lot more solid than expected! And the open design at the bottom is actually a bonus. One problem in the cabin is mice dying behind the impossible-to-move sink cabinet (there are 1/2 in gaps between it and the side wall, because of the pipes, and also the back wall, who knows why) :frowning:

So we bought it, and in store it’s $10 less than the online price. We’re also getting a small kitchen cabinet with drawers: KNOXHULT Base cabinet with drawers, white - IKEA
