How to send scanned documents via windows (xp) fax, multiple page faxes?

Hey there, I recently set up a new office computer where I work (a medical business) and have had no problems except that I can’t seem to figure out how to send a fax that has more than one page to it without sending each page individually (ugh!). I consider myself fairly computer savvy - I can format harddrives and do OS installs and do my own hardware upgrades and such - I mean, I’m not some certified technician but I know my way around windows pretty well - but I’ll be damned if I can figure out this cursed fax thing. (just havent used them much) When I use the wizard I have no problem creating the fax cover page, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to add subsequent pages to it. I use my scanner to scan-in insurance claim forms, but I can’t figure out how to append them to the fax cover page. for example, in an attempt to send a 3 page set of forms, I scanned each document individually and tried to select all 3 files (bitmap files) followed by a right click in an attempt find some sort of “send via fax” option, but to no avail. Any pointers you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated, along with your forgiveness of my exceeding ignorance…thank you all!

You’ve got to remember that faxing is designed to send documents, not files per se. So you can’t really attach bmp files to a cover sheet in the same way you would do e-mail. You can, of course, import the pictures into a Word document and then fax that document. Or you can, as you have probably been doing, open the individual pictures and then print them to the fax, but unless you make a new graphic that is a combination of the individual graphics, then you are back to sending one page at a time.

I’d say your best bet is to import the graphics into a multipage Word document, making each graphic fill one page.

In the absence of a more robust fax program, like WinFax, I turn all the pages into one PDF file with Adobe Acrobat. Then I print that file to the XP fax.

Start your fax from the folder your documents are in, instead of from the cover page. Open the folder where your docs are located, right click one of the docs, choose print, select each doc you want faxed, click next, change to fax, and then go through the wizard.

That doesn’t work for me. Of course I have to make my fax the default printer for it to work at all, but it still sends each document as a separate fax.

Honey - your solution proved most helpful, thank you so much…and of course to everyone that pitched in and tried to help…thank you!
