I got a `call late thjis afternoon asking if I had tickets to tonights game…and I did, but they asked me if I wanted to sit in a SUITE, and I said YEEEESSSSS!!! So I went to the game tonight and had fantastic seats and met some wonderful people and had free food and did I mention there was free beer? There was free beer. Lots and lots of freeeee beeeeer! Did you guys know that free beer tastes the best? It was my first time in a suite and I hqae to say that aI could get used to it much too easily. I’m too lazy to edit my bad typos (well most of them). ANd no I didn not drive home. Seed you guys in da morning.
Huh? You can’t spring stuff like that on us–we’re old and easily confused.
RE the PE moron–something to do with the wrestling mats, since they do step aerobics in the wrestling gym (don’t ask me–when I went to that same school, the wrestlers hung out and worked out above the balcony over the pool–nice and hot so that they could [del] get electrolyte imbalances and dehydrated all that much quicker[/del] “make practice count.” Blech-wrestling.
I still think it’s stupid and BAD PE–why not have them just run in their barefeet while she’s at it? Stoopit gym teacher.
Watched a whole lot of old family videos tonight. I have the cutest kids in the whole world. Oh, I know what you’re going to say: you do too, but no, you are mistaken. The titles are taken and they are held by the Rigby kids. We won’t forget the little people… <pats head all 'round>
Still can’t watch bad TV up here (dratted homework) and it’s too cold downstairs. Perhaps I should go to bed early. Hmm…
I’m on the edge of the cliff, I need someone to either push me into the gulf of bad behavior, or hold me back from jumping. This is in regards to a terribly bad thread I may or may not start.
Howdy all. Boring day, in which I have shouted at secretaries for asking me stupid questions and been booted out of my conference room turned office for some other more senior lawyer to have a client meeting. I am really fed up with the sh*t here and may just pack up and go home for the day, because I really don’t feel like it. I was planning to leave early anyway, as I have to go and pick up HRH’s meds from the hospital pharmacy (hopefully for the last time, fingers crossed), but this crap just makes me want to tell everyone here to shove their steenkin’ job!
True to my intentions, I left work about 30 minutes after my last post, picked up Noor’s meds and am now at home, multi-tasking (read: Doping and watching TV at the same time). I may dedicate some time this evening to writing TB’s presentation (for the conference in Spain), or I may just have a couple of very large glasses of red wine, take an anti-histamine and go to bed. Of course, in between now and then, I will have to eat something, pick HRH up from MIL’s house, feed her, entertain her and then put her to bed, as well as maybe do some washing, wash some dishes and bottles and get ready to repeat the process again tomorrow!
beebs, what did you decide about the terribly bad thread? I don’t want to push you and be responsible for another 30-day vacation from the Dope for you !
It’s more juvenille poor taste than edgy bad behavior, I’m waiting on word from one of you though. You have a one hour time limit before I have to close up my computers and go home.
**Doggio ** - is there anyone left at work but you now? Or did you have that much dead wood to clear out??
Yes, I’m here early, because it’s JURY DAY!! woo and hoo. Just today and March 5, then I’m done my civic duty for a year at least. I have to say, I’m thankful I work for the federal gummint because I do get paid court leave, so there’s no loss of income. I feel sorry for anyone who gets tapped and has to substitute the whopping $15 expense check for a day’s wages. Me, I just donate the $15 back to a county kids’ fund for summer camp and stuff. Bottom line, 2 to go, then my alternate Wednesdays go back to normal.
It’s been blessedly quiet since I took Scruffy to the vet’s for the night. I never realized what a noisemaker she is. Bernie and Taz seem so much more relaxed. OK, so “relaxed” and Taz should never me in the same sentence… He cracked us up last night. We were lying in bed watching something on TV when Taz jumped up on FCD’s chest of drawers, which sits next to my closet. He then leapt from the top of the chest to the top of my closet and (I assume) curled up on one of my sweaters or sweatshirts for a snooze. We didn’t see him again till this morning, when I woke to find him plastered to my hip, snoozing away.
After duty, I need to make a run to the trash/recycling center. I’ve also got a dishwasher full of clean dishes that needs emptying, and I should probably toss the dirty whites into the washer. That’s the only load I didn’t do this weekend. I may stop for a haircut somewhere along the line, too. Oh, the life of a jet-setter.
For now, I’m caffeinating and getting ready to check out the funnies.
Oh yeah, some bummer news in our fambly. My sister’s husband was laid off after working TWENTY-SIX years for his employer. They thought this was going to happen last year when the company was bought, but obviously it didn’t. So we could use some good vibes for a 48-y/o with one kid in college and another due to start in the fall. Hard to tell if 26 years of loyalty is worth anything in the job market. Fortunately, he got a good severance package, so they’ll be OK if his search takes a few months. Still,
This whole week (ok, so only monday and tuesday during the day) I was so good at cleaning up after myself and putting things away. But now I have returned to my former slovenly self and am waiting for one of my employees to get here so that she can put all the miscellaneous groceries away that are cluttering my area. There’s just too many and I’m feeling overwhelmed. What to do? Oh yes, that’s why I’m here instead of working.
**
beebs**, personally, I’d say NO to over the top mischief, but that’s cause I don’t want to risk us losing your valuable input here again.
Also, made my first loaf of bread last night from this cookbook. Considering that I only followed about half of the directions, it was pretty tasty!
Where is Noonie, anyways??
And will somebody please tell me where DB works and why he keeps having to fire so many people???
DB works at a dollar store (Dollar Tree??) and I’m guessing his various former employees weren’t exactly stellar workers. Or he could just be a big ol’ poopyhead who likes to fire people at random. Maybe in a previous life, he was one of those kings who had people killed just for the heck of it…
OK, not likely. Our **doggio ** would never be so heartless and cruel. So I’m going with the less-than-stellar theory.
I’m not heartless, just cruel. FCM hit the nail on the head. I have a store full of thieves and idjits, and 98% of the people putting in applications are in cahoots/sleeping with the thieves and idjits.
Good morning, up and caffeinating here also. We’re supposed to get a dusting to an inch of snow, starting around noon until 10 or 11 PM. Should make for an interesting afternoon commute! NOT!
Sorry about your BIL, FCM. Glad he at least got a decent severance package.
doggio - I was going to ask too… how many employees left? Hope you’re getting some decent replacements. ETA - are you recruiting from other sources somehow?
Yay for you for finishin’ up undergrad. Good luck with the pharmacy skool interviews. Ick on the work front though. Hope everything calms down soon.
Oh, and just cause… how you doin’?
Hmmm… that might explain why there’s suddenly no stray animals in the 'hood anymore.
Rebo except for backslidin’ a couple times, I have indeed quit smokin’. What I have to be careful about is the combo of beer and pool time in the Summer. That’s when the backslidin’ happened last year. Since then I’ve been good. Mostly I just don’t even think about it. Guess that’s a good sign.
Up and caffienated here. I told somebody at work who I had given a ride to or from a few times that she needs to make her own arrangements and not depend on others. I would never mind doin’ that occasionally for someone but it is a little bit out of my way and she seemed to think it’d happen everyday. Ummmm… no… you’re a grownup. Grownups have to take care of this kind of stuff on their own. Oh, and I’m not the only one who told her this either. So, maybe now she’ll get her allegedly broken car fixed.
Ok, off to purtify and caffienate some more.
Later Y’all!
ETA: doggio hope things get better at the workplace soon!
No snow here (no surprises there!), but we are having a mighty fine sandstorm though - northerly winds gusting up to 40mph, bringing in lots of sand from … umm … the north, I guess!
