I’m torn about the shoes. The 5.5 pair came in today (Zappos is fast) but they’re a tiny bit too tight. Argh. I think I’m exactly between a 5.5 and a 6, as this is not the first time this has happened. I tried the 6 pair on again, and I’m still torn. The heels are ever-so-slightly too high for comfort (seriously, I wish they were like 0.05" lower). If they were, say, $50, I’d just take them and trot them out for special occasions . . . but they’re $99. I just don’t know.
Last summer I paid around a hundred bucks for some Kenneth Cole sandals that are as hot as hell but absolutely kill my feet. I still love them but I wear them so rarely that I can’t really justify buying another pair of shoes like that. Plus I couldn’t wear these new shoes in the winter - I’d fall and break my neck not 10 steps from my front door.
Grumblegrumblegrumble. I really shouldn’t order shoes online. I think I’m going to end up returning both and go shoe shopping locally sometime.
Oh, I forgot to mention - I stopped by a travel agency and asked about Miami/Key West stuff for May. They had a nice package for a hotel that’s supposed to be the hottest thing in Miami but the online reviews make it sound terrible. I know people are more likely to leave reviews for negative experiences . . . but still. Plus I’m not sure I want to stay in Miami - from what I’ve read it all sounds too crazy for what I’m looking for. I’m thinking I’ll stay at the Standard my first night and then spend a couple or maybe three nights here in Key West.
This would be my first solo trip not involving a hostel. I’m usually all for budget accomodations but it’ll be nice to be pampered for once.
Whew - finally! I read the thread and was about to post over 4 hours ago, when suddenly I lost my internet. Turns out (2 hours later I figured it out) that the router needed to be reset. Then we had supper. Then I had to take Scruffy to the vet - she’s having her teeth cleaned tomorrow and because of jury duty, I can’t take her in the morning. After getting back, I had to load the dishwasher, then I had to get all caught up with the MMP again. So anyway, here I am.
Taz the troublemaker likes being on top of my kitchen cabinets. And when he leaps down, it sounds like something big falling. He’s such a goof!
I know I had something to share, but for the life of me, I can’t remember. It must not have been important. But I’m here - that’s all that matters.
Remote? It’s on the dining room table because you took it with you while walking through there and figured you’d remember and pick it up on the way back?
Glad you turned up, Pie. Usually it takes me a bit to notice who hasn’t wandered by. I’ll be thinking “something’s not right about this place” and then it’ll dawn on me: :smack: Pie hasn’t been by in XXX period of time.
Hey, donkeybear. You know there aren’t any requirements for keeping up, right? You should stop by and wave more often. Good luck with pharmacy school!
I was home from work at a decent hour, had dinner and now I really need to go out to buy a birthday card for the person who normally buys the cards for everyone on our team. She’s REALLY good at finding funny cards, so…I’m intimidated, as usual. And it’s REALLY cold outside, so I really don’t feel like going out. Guess I’ll check out the store that’s around the corner and up the street. They usually have good cards. If I don’t find anything, I can try Caribou Coffee. And if that doesn’t work out, maybe I’ll get in the car and drive to Target/Barnes & Noble/World Market. But I’d really like to avoid that.
Lots more to say, but I really need to stop putting off the birthday card buying. My brother and one of my closest friends have birthdays on Thursday. Oh, and my friend who just retired has a birthday on Friday. Guess I’ll have to dig out her address and send a card.
I PM’d SCL because I think she has some pictures that might work.
Back from the store. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes with 5 birthday cards and the usual giggle at their sign: Unattended children will be given espresso and a free kitten! Cracks me up every time.
Gotta write cards and then work on some gardening stuff.
Ok, so I got Fundie Virgin Girl (who I swear is getting married at 21 so she can have sex), a 5 speed Kitchen Aid handheld mixer–it was on her 10 page gift registry at Bed Bath and Beyond. I will get their wedding gift at Macy’s (and curse that it is no longer Field’s as I do so).
The babies–both are girls, Holly and Clara. I like both those names. Feminine without being trendy. (the babies are no relation to one another, btw). I got the older one, Holly a very cute blue and white striped sundress and a hoodie sweater in pink, blue, green, yellow and lavender. I got Clara (now 3 days old) a 6 month red rose dotted white “sleeper” and a 9 month lavender fuzzy warm sleeper with penguins! I call them sleepers (hey, what else do babes this age do?)–by sleeper I mean long sleeves, long pants with feet. Anyway, they’re cute. Oh, and Clara gets a book to read-a Sandra Boynton one that my kids liked.
No bad TV. Daughter came home with foot injury of some kind. She is on the family room couch with said foot propped up, doing her homework. Her PE teacher makes them do step aerobics in their sock feet. WTH? No wonder her foot hurts. She has ice on it now and has taken some Naprosyn. I am in my jammies–afterall, it’s 730 pm in the[del] nursing home[/del] my house.
Couldn’t that be considered abuse? What did she want, everyone slipping and sliding (and falling) on the gym floor? Or did she just not want to get her precious ‘steps’ dirty with sneaker dust?
Boy, you guys must be really important if I’m staying awake long enough just to tell you that I finally found a pair of sunglasses. This was the 6th pair that I had tried. Thank goodness for free returns. And I had a $25 gift certificate too! These would not be my number one choice, but cost is a factor here and I think they’ll do nicely.
