I saw it when it first came out, and thought it was all-around adorable. There were parts of it that I didn’t think were terribly well-done - Okay, I’ll buy vikings with Scottish accents, but kids with neutral American accents? - but then I got distracted again by how incredibly cute it all was, and all was forgiven. It was fun, visually it was well-done, the story was compelling enough, and Toothless was distractingly cute.
Heh, this is kinda funny. (In Norway, the - damned - southerners are enraged and inflamed that the vikings are all northwesterners or northerners. Dubbed version, that is.) However, there’s a very good reason for it; Scandinavian-accented English is as far from being sexy, funny, charming or attractive you can get without actually being German.
Then again, if we had had dragons, we damn well would have taken Scotland. (And one of my few Scottish friends confessed that some of them would have preferred that to being under English rule.)
But I digress.
Yes! One of mine will begin what we call phantom chewing in anticipation of a treat.
I think, like Stitch, the wideset eyes, flat nose and bat ears… Toothless is a Boston.
