This would be the best show ever!
It may even inspire me to resent my own siblings less
I’m resurrecting this thread to point out that 2.5 of my predictions have come true (even as the show continues).
Claire has indeed merged Pritchett’s Closets and Blinds (with an upstart manufacturer that would otherwise be their competition). Haley is pregnant. And though Jay hasn’t died, DeeDee has, so I’m giving myself half credit for that.
I was hoping it would end with guest starring appearances by Cameron Mitchell and Alex Haley. But since they are both dead, that probably isn’t happening.
Grandma Claire should be fun. I wonder if we’ll finally get to met any of Dylan’s family.
I WAS wondering where tiny Haley was getting the big appetite from in Good Grief. Thought it was just a grieving response, but she didn’t really have a close relationship with DeeDee.
Are we sure Dylan’s the father?
Not as of right now (5:38 p.m. Central Time). Don’t know if ABC is airing a new episode tonight.
ETA: They are not.
MUH! Stupid holidays… ![]()
I’ve only caught bits and pieces, but I want to see Ed O’Neil wake up with Peggy Bundy and realize Modern Family was all a dream and he’s back in his crappy house with his crappy shoe salesman job. Yeah it’s been done before but oh well.
And then Al wakes up next to Peggy and laments going to work at his debt-ridden shoe store which he bought 15 years ago and will never get away from?
I’m resurrecting this thread yet again to say that another of my predictions appears to be coming true. On Wednesday’s episode, they began setting the stage for Mitch & Cam to move to Missouri at some point in the future (one of the three main families will move out of LA).
Bumped because they announced that the show is not ending after the current, tenth season, but is renewed for an eleventh season.
Hey, good news!
The final episode of Modern Family aired yesterday. Anyone want to gloat over what they got right? Or complain about how the show’s not been as good as it once was?
Let’s see.
Jay will die. No. (Although word has it there was a discussion about Jay dying, but the producers decided that was just too dark, so they killed DeDe instead.)
Claire will sell/merge/destroy Pritchett’s Closets & Blinds. Yup.
One of the three main families will move out of L.A. Yes.
Haley or Alex will get married/pregnant. Yes.
Luke or Manny will get married/get a girl pregnant. No, although Luke got into college, which was enough of a shock.
Some other thingl Phil and Claire take a cross-country trip in the RV, Alex may hook up with the professor who had a crush on Haley, Gloria gets a job, Mitch and Cam adopt another kid, DeDe and Phil’s father died.
In other words, if you predicted any change at all, you had a 3/5 chance of being right.
Haley married.
All of the kids moving out.
No one killed off.
Clare didn’t run Jay’s business into the ground.
Ended on a feel good note with a super sappy last 5 minutes.
I’m good with that prediction.
BTW, the episode where Phil’s father died was much, much better than DeDe’s death, IMHO. Even though it was obvious it was Fred Willard’s last episode, the ending was still a surprise. As much as the last few seasons have descended into farce, I put that one in the top 20, maybe top 10.
And the finale was pretty good, if somewhat predictable. All the Dunphy kids move out simultaneously, Cam gets his dream job and they take Hamtrack and Guber to get to their new home in Missouri, Gloria finally lets Manny live his life.
I apparently voted “Haley or Alex will get married/pregnant.” So yay, I got it right.
Watching the episode, I thought Claire and Phil were going to go RVing alone.
The episode was ok. I didn’t really like it but it didn’t make me angry as some finales do. Like some undermine their entire premise or reach too far. I’m ok with that. I’d rather be like “That was forgettable” than “WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST WATCH.”
