“I always get a whistle when I wear shorts.”
I liked the second episode better than the first, though Phil & Claire scheming to get all the kids out of the house was pretty funny. And the long escalator full of Colombians was hilarious as well.

Kinda sad but true that Phil and Claire wanted alone time in addition to grown-up time.
It remains a decent sitcom with occasional flashes of real wit. I am very pro-gay-marriage and respect how, given the news, they addressed it - it was interesting how they finessed it by getting them both kneeling, and neither explicitly asked and they didn’t get lovey-dovey - walking a fine line with mainstream America, I guess.
So - yay for including it as a major plot point and best of luck navigating issues. But I hope their impending nuptials don’t dominate every show. That’s not a political statement - it would just get tired.
What, even if the baby vomits every time?
“Youuuuu can hangggg your clothess in meeee…”
Christopher Walken Closet.
Anybody else notice that Luke has sprouted some gorilla arms.
I noticed that. The actor who plays Luke looks very different from previous seasons and even from last season.
And his voice has changed.
I think his voice was starting to change last year.
The actor definitely started growing & voice changing last season. I suspect the producers decided to downplay it last year, and did wardrobe/makeup/hair accordingly. But he’s bulked up to the point where that’s not working anymore (he turns 15 in a month), so they’re running with it.
Well, the character is a high school freshman, which would be about fourteen years old, so if he’s about to turn fifteen, he’s close to the right age. (More so than many other actors playing teenagers.)
I really liked that they shone a bit of a spotlight on Cam and Mitchell’s relationship and history together - we know they’ve been together a long time, but it was nice to see them reminiscing and seeing the true depth of love and affection they have for each other.
And they really do get a lot of flat tires.
Oh, and Gloria in the background of anything? Never gonna happen - she is NOT a blending-into-the-background person!
I did like Phil’s throwaway comment - “Having lunch with my mistress” and Gloria’s look of slight discomfort.
Last night’s episodes were better than anything they had in season four.
I’ll probably always like the show, but sometimes I’m not sure what alternative universe they live in. Cam as the freshman football coach makes sense since he played in collage and it’s non pay job. But all those boys gung ho for Cam right away, while in a wonderful idealistic world is great, I’m not so sure how realistic it would be.
Lilly was pretty hilarious, and I don’t normally think so.
“Oh honey, no one never leaves home and doesn’t come back.”
“I did.”
“Hello, Daddy’s office…you sound like a little girl!” ::click::
I admit it. I started crying when they both knelt and and said yes. I thought it was so touching.
Yep. This is the only sit-com that I make a point of catching every episode. It’s so well written.
Lily is my favorite character. I laughed out loud when she ran into the brick column though.
I guess we watched different episodes because we thought both were pretty lackluster compared to previous seasons. They left us thinking maybe their run is over. But I did like Phil’s talks with first Alex and they Haley: “you don’t want to be that girl”. Well played.
I thought they were both fine episodes, but honestly the baby puking was not funny at all, nor were the jokes made about it. I guess they need something amusing for the baby to do.
It comes with a paying job – he’ll also be teaching.
The team accepted him because he knew something about football. And judging by their size, they weren’t varsity. Were they?
What’s “A P History”?
Was anyone else a little shocked by this line, when Lilly was eager to go to school?
“Sometimes I forget to factor in the Asian.”
I thought the episodes were way above last season’s average.
