I’ve seen it referenced elsewhere but not discussed. Both Hillary and Obama are having to go to significant additional expenditure to secure the Democratic nomination whereas McCain does not (and boy, must he be feeling glad that the issue of his primary expenditure is now moot). How will this affect their chances in November? After all, people and corporations have only so much they can give.

Doesn’t the general count separately from the primaries? If so then it won’t matter.
I suspect that the Republicans are worried that if the Democrats can raise so much for candidates who don’t differ all that much on policy, and are still on neighbourly speaking terms with each other, then they’ll be able to raise a lot more in the real election against a candidate who is currently getting himself into bed with George W. Bush.
