How will you spend the evening of Valentine's Day?

I’m single, but even if I weren’t, I’d just be doing normal Tuesday night things.

Not sure, but my guess is at the vet, getting our lovely new dog a rabies booster. She’s great at everything except car rides (she gets super excited ), so it will take two of us to drive her there safely.

Hey, it’s a holiday–give the doggie a treat and let her drive!

I own a restaurant so hopefully humping kegs and ice and bussing tables like a madman.

That was the second draft of that post; the first was even worse.

Is that meant to be a true anti-Valentines dinner, or is it somewhat tongue-in-cheek as you seem to be describing it? I can’t go into a store without seeing the Valentine’s Day candy or decorations. Can’t watch TV without being told to get a diamond for that special woman in my life. Hell, even the icon for Words With Friends on my phone has turned into a fucking heart this week. And now I hear about a place that’s catering to singles on this day and you gotta invade that too?

98% chance I will be working. I’m on the verge of a significant breakthrough in my research. Well significant for my research area, from an overall scientific perspective it is extremely super minor although it ought to be worth a paper or two. In any case, I’ve been burning a lot of midnight oil as of late so I expect that to continue.

My husband is having yet another checkup and adjustment on his new dentures tomorrow morning. I plan to make something for dinner that he can eat with his new teeth. He can bite into foods now, but the food still has to be soft-ish. It’s been a year of rapidly deteriorating teeth, dental surgeries, and getting used to dentures, so even being able to eat a soft taco is an improvement!

Probably staying in and watching tv or playing games.

I’m kinda seeing a few people right now, and it seems weird to do something that may have more meaning than intended at this stage of things.

I got a tactical knife with rainbow finish on the blade to carry when I go mushroom hunting

We don’t really do valentine’s day other than he usually grabs some chocolate for me… when it goes on sale.

My wife works tomorrow so today I’ll be picking up some flowers from the community college floral program and dropping by the store for some king crab legs. I’m going to make blackened salmon Caesar salad with a side of steamed crab.

I think people are more open to going on dates around this time because of the of the focus on their singlehood. If you’re single, this is the time to ask that special someone out, not for the actual day, but maybe for Friday. You have to pounce on their vulnerability

I’ll be going to quilt guild and then coming home to watch Chopped. The usual third Tuesday of the month.

ways… of what?

I have to revise my post: he brought me home some chocolate truffle Kisses, some specialty booze and a mushy card that said I could spend $50 on Farmville 2 (he couldn’t find any facebook/zynga cards).

But then he told me he will be having dinner with his BFF at a fishfry on V-Day nite. I smell guilt. Not that kind of guilt although we all have teased him about that for years… but his BFF has been that for over 30 years now and they do things together. Mostly stuff that bores me to tears.

I think I can milk that for an extra $50 come Friday nite since he almost always gives me $20 since we don’t do anything on “going out” nites and he goes to the Shop to play with his BFF and all of their toys on Fri/Sat nites.
(I hate going out, I like playing my online games and he has the cash… it works for us.) (I’ll prolly only get a total of $75 but that extra $5 can be spent on another game  )

I am going to the convalescent home with my girlfriend and hand out valentines and kisses to old folks who don’t have anyone.

Well… I’m going to a third world country to feed the poor children. All of them.

It’s not a big deal here so my wife and I don’t do anything. In fact I would have forgotten except for the threads here.

In Japan it’s much bigger but women give men presents and then they have a “White Day” on March 14th when the men return the favor.

Totally tongue in cheek. Last year a couple sitting nearby overheard our play-bickering. The guy began hitting on my gf and his date asked if I had plans for later. And the music playlist is amazing!

Ms. Cups made cake last night, is making dinner tonight and she and I are going to eat mountain meal and watch wrestling.

Oh, and probably do a Star Wars puzzle, it was what I got her as a gift.

Home, making a typical quick dinner for family that is on slightly mismatched schedules. Then driving a junior member to-from orchestral rehearsal. The Barbarian household isn’t a very interesting place these days.

But the Dane puppy woke me up with a truly sweet little kiss, so there’s that.
