New Hampshire is a total disgrace! If I am elected, I will instruct my attorney general to look into New Hamsphire’s situation because other states have had their lives ruined for a fraction of the things that you’ve done, New Hampshire. You oughtta be ashamed of yourself!
I hope it’s clear that my post was firmly tongue-in-cheek! We’re all going to drive ourselves crazy today if we try to read every single data point as an indicator of where things are going with the election. The voting of five New Hampshirites (Hampshirians? Hampshirinos?) has zero informative value aside from cluing in other residents of Dixville Notch about who overslept.
I saw a tweet saying that black seniors in Georgia were at 124% of 2016 totals before today.
But I agree that this could be closer than what we think. There’s some big Trump numbers in some big battleground states. And those folks appear to be nearly as whipped up as Dems.
I’ve been more optimistic about a Biden win the closer we get to the election. My biggest concerns at this point are whether the Dems can flip the Senate, and how much Republicans will try to contest legitimate election results. And, I guess, how much Trump will trash what’s left of the government before he leaves office.
Is this taking into account the record pre-Election Day voting we’ve had this year? A lot of people may be staying home today because they’ve already voted.
I take issue with the last statement. It’s the right that wants to cramp religious freedom. Look who is still whining about taking prayer out of public schools. As if a public institution should be forcing students to recite Christian prayers. And look who has been fighting against construction of mosques in their communities- red staters.
I don’t see any possibility that Donald will lead in enough states to total 270 EVs at any point tonight. His position that we need to stop counting votes today is batshit crazy and would not stand up in any court, let alone the Supremes. He might get one vote in the Supreme Court if Kavanaugh is on a bender but I can’t see anyone else buying his baloney.
The New York Times has created this interactive “Election Distractor” video thing. It has questions, cute animal things, nature videos, science-y stuff… something to do with your nervous energy. Apologies if it’s paywalled.
Let’s not get too crazy here. What happened is that some Republicans filed suit to prevent the counting of those ballots because they were drive-through, and they have some issue with it. It wasn’t the state government trying to do that, FWIW, but just some asshole GOP members.
The challenges failed in Federal and State court, so they’re getting counted. The system worked absolutely like it’s supposed to in this case.
I thought I was fairly confident but I’ve eaten six or seven large chocolate chip cookies and it’s not even 3 pm yet, and I feel gradually more and more paralyzed with dread.
