How would one mount a snorkel for framing?

So I’ve got a “lucky, lucky, glow-in-the-dark, autographed snorkel” that I would like to frame and put on display. My question is this: How should I mount the snorkel to the mat without doing damage to said snorkel? My initial thought was to use that gummy/tacky stuff that 3M makes, but I don’t know if this would be the best opition. Does anyone who has any mounting/framing experience able to give me better ideas/pointers?

My first thought would be hot glue. Depending on what the snorkel is made out of, I think it would come off rather easily. Either that, or using fish line or similar colored thread to tie it on to the mat.

Sticking up from a block of cement.

One way to build a shadow box is to build one frame for the glass and build another, slightly larger frame behind it for the depth.

What about using a needle and some transparent thread or fishing line to strategically hold it in place? Mount it on cardboard.

Then do as AskNott says and put a shadowbox around.

I’m with Zipper on this one. Get a shadowbox big enough for the snorkel, some foamboard to fit in the back, and a sheet of colored felt (ocean blue? black? maroon?).

Lay the snorkel on a sheet of foamboard in an aesthetically pleasing orientation, trace its outline in fine pencil, and set the snorkel aside. Then make four pairs of holes with a small nail. The holes should be paired closely, but the four pairs should each be spaced along the snorkel’s length – one near the middle of the long tube, and three in close succession around the mouthpiece. Glue a sheet of colored felt to the foamboard, and use a sewing needle and fishing line to stitch through the back of the holes so that four big loops poke out of the felted side of the board; leave the back ends untied for now. Give each loop a half-twist as you thread the snorkel through it. Once the snorkel is through all four loops, gently reach under and tie off the fishing line.

That’s how I’d do it – your mileage may vary.

That snorkel’s been just like a snorkel to me.
