How would you succinctly describe this form of self-righteousy panderish sorta thing.

I was listening to some shock jock today while driving and he made some sort of joke about firemen - it was pretty funny - even the fireman who was on the phone at the time laughed. The next caller was some lady who went on the whole “Heroes of 9/11” thing - how dare he make a joke, blah, blah, blah. The only thing the DJ said was “Wow, your taking such a risk in saying that”, which pretty well captured the annoyance I feel when people make those kinds of statements. It’s like they say these things because they are so popular and want to benefit from the easy way of seeming patriotic or kind. I see posts on the SDMB from time to time which are in the same spirit. Not necessarily to do with 9/11 but wherever there is a foregone conclusion about the wholesale acceptance of the statement by other’s and the impossiblity of saying anything other than you agree. Rape, child abuse, that kind of stuff.
It’s sort of self-righteous pandering but not really which is why im asking you what is a good way to say it. In other words, what could that DJ have said that would have disarmed her of her self-righteousness but not made himself seem like an ogre?

a humorless world would be a cold cold place for everyone.

kind of like afghanistan…

That’s the problem with America! No one has a sense of humor about themselves - they get offended. I have freedom of speech - you don’t have freedom to not be offended, so get over yourself!

There was this hispanic comic on Comedy Central a while ago - he was so funny. I REALLY wish I could remember his name. By the end of the night, he was like, “See, I’ve made fun of everyone in this room and we’ve all laughed and had fun.” There’s no reason to get upset when someone obviously doesn’t mean what they say. You only make yourself sound ignorant and humorless!
