Another fan of the Robeez here. A friend in Canada sent some for the baby (red with white maple leaves! I loved 'em!) and they stayed on very well. We picked up another pair later on as well.
Our daughter is a natural born hillbilly.
Socks and her are ships sinking in the night.
Rather than fight it, she went barefoot year round in the house and her little jaunts onto the garage floor in the winter.
Occasionally she would go outside, fully rigged out in a snow suit, sans boots or anything, and go off into the snow.
Then she would come back in (whining and crying about her frozen feet) and put her boots on. This phenomenon was also played out with mittens until about a year ago. The kid never wore mittens and I refused to fight her after the bajillionth time. She would come in with frozen claws for hands.
She is, I would like to state, a total shoe whore now, at the age of 6.5
Oh, and sometimes just putting mittens on her feet was enough to keep them on.
go figure.
I was at my friend’s house for dinner last night. They have a 2 year old boy who at one point dissappeared behind a chair, then just started walking around, he was wearing his shoes and socks, but he’d removed his pants and diaper! It was so funny.
Today is Thursday, the day when my wife and I babysit the twins.
They showed up ~ 9am with socks and slippers on their feet, and it’s now 11:10 am. They’re napping and the socks and slippers are still on. I started this thread and so what are my grandkids doing with the footwear on? Who knows? This is the first time they’ve done this.
Anyway, their Mom’s going to get some Robeez.
Tights and High-tops. Works like a charm.
Blanket sleepers. Or cute little bunny slippers. I guess they’d probably object to being swaddled at their advanced age, huh?
Now when they get to the age where they start taking off their pajamas and fingerpainting in their cribs with the contents of their diapers, let us know. I eventually had to start sewing my daughter’s sleeper shut every night and every naptime (I tried duct tape first - really, I did - but she defeated it). Blech.
She’s 8 now. I’m saving that story for when she starts dating.
Super Glue, duh…
just be glad you dont have a 4 yr old girl who has discovered the joy that comes when you get dressed all by yourself. Every hour or so, she runs into her room, strips naked, pulls open the drawers, takes out 5 or 10 items of clothing, and picks a few to wear (and leaves the rest on the floor.) The more colors , the more fun it is–so she refuses to wear matching socks. Oh no, that would be too dull…
Tights.
On the shoes, I have no bloody idea. My kids finally learned to keep them on when it was too cold to go without. Even then, they take their shoes (and usually socks) off the moment they get indoors.
I’ll tell you the footie pajamas won’t work with all kids. I hated those blasted things and screamed the house down until they took them off. I do NOT like my feet to be enclosed in anything. I hate socks to this day.
But if you put shoes on them how can they chew on their feet? Or since they are twins, each others feet? Please don’t take that away from them, life is short.
They get all the time they need chewing on each other.
Yesterday, they were face to face, sitting on the rug, and each reached out and stuck a finger in the other one’s mouth. Which they thought was hilarious. And which got us to laughing, as well.
I have both real Robeez and fake Robeez for my daughter. I just bought her the Robeez booties (on sale) - I couldn’t resist!
And yes, the Mary Janes are the sweetest - I am trying to convince my hubby that my daughter needs them desperately. No luck yet but her birthday is coming up … maybe the birthday shoe fairy will bring a pair!
