Howard Stern back for 5 more years!

I bet you just love all those endless commercials on *real *radio.

Howard does have commercials, but he’ll sometimes go an hour or more without one.

We must be listening to a different show. Sure those things come up, but there is so much more!

One thing I’ll agree with, though, is that the show has definitely taken a turn toward reality television. Howard used to talk about scripted shows he watched. I’ve watched more girlie shows because of Howard than I’m proud to admit. For example, not only did I finally relent and watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer after hearing him and Robin rave about it for two years, but I also even ended up watching Felicity based on his constant raves. (Which is, I believe, what inspired the Felicity joke in Little Nicky.)

Nowadays it’s all The Bachelor, Celebrity Rehab, et al… I miss when he used to talk about scripted television. The only shows I remember him regularly talking about that started during the 2000s were Heroes and Lost, and he gave up on the latter halfway through season one.

I can’t fathom liking terrestrial radio, though. The very concept boggles my mind.

I don’t watch any of those shows, but I like hearing his take on them.

I stuck with Lost for 2 and a half seasons, and I’m pretty sure Howard stuck with it longer than me. I swear I remember him talking about it long after I didn’t care anymore. I think Robin held on to the end. He also likes In Treatment, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, and - ok it started in '99, but - they all talked A LOT about The Sopranos.

Word. I had to take my wife’s car somewhere today and I almost just said fuck it and drove into a telephone pole. Terrestrial radio falls somewhere between felching a dead hippo and smashing my own balls with a hammer on the fun scale.

Yeah, I think you’re right about how long he lasted. I was going by what he claimed when the finale aired. Self-reporting is always suspect, especially when you’re crowing about your own superiority. heh.

Good call on the HBO shows. Totally forgot them. I find it odd that he’s never gotten Showtime, but whatever.

From what I heard about how Lost ended, he (and I) had every reason to crow. In fact, I personally only watched the opening credits of the pilot and knew it was a piece of shit.
