How'd your finals go?

I’m a freshman in college and today I finished my last final of my first semester.

Meh, overall. I’m not too happy with how I think I did. I pretty much needed an A on all of my tests and doubt I pulled it off, except for the multiple choice portion of my History test. I nailed that thing. Out of 50 questions I might have missed one, maybe two, I probably got them right.

My girlfriend will be happy now that all the stress is gone…until next semester.

I don’t take mine until next week. But I had my last classes (as an undergrad) today! w00t!

I’m a senior English major, so most of my final exams this week were replaced by papers and related projects. The one final I did have to take in class went decently well as far as having to drag myself to campus at 8 AM to write an essay in 2 hours goes. I’m a bit more concerned about my final papers – I usually do well on papers, but you never know.

Either way, I’m optimistic about my final grades. I already know I have 2 A’s from checking online gradebooks, now I just have to wait until my other grades come in.

And all just in time for me to buckle down and finish my graduate school applications!

I’m only taking two classes this semester and our finals are next week. I expect an A in my Music class (taking it for the humanities requirement) and so far I’ve been carrying an A in poli-sci, but the exams in that class are fairly brutal. We’ll see how it goes!

From an examiner’s point of view: I was marking at the university last week. I was impressed by the students’ papers. There were some excellent answers - we awarded a number of High Distinctions. Unfortunately, there were also several duds, whom we failed.

I finished on Wednesday. I ended up only taking one final. In English, we just had a short self-reflection paper that was due the last class. In Art History 1, we managed to get her to make the final be extra credit and since she had graded and handed back the second test* and I got an A, I opted not to take the final. In Art History 2, she allowed us to just turn it in if we had previously written it. I had, since she had let us do that in Art History 1, and so was in and out in ten minutes. I’m thinking I’ll get at least a C in the class. She hadn’t graded the second test so I’m guessing what grade I got on that, but I’m pretty sure my final was an A. I hope.

  • which she insisted on calling midterms. I’m sorry, but you can’t have two mid terms.

I’m only watching everyone else this year take their finals, since I’m out of school until fall. The husband is currently sleeping off his law school finals. He had Torts II this morning at 8, which means he left the house at 5. He thinks he did pretty good, which usually means he did great. One more semester to go. I’m glad this one is over, it’s been a rough one for him.

My nephew and his g/f had their first final yesterday. Despite almost not making it to class (long story short: we all live together in the boondocks with one car and unreliable auxiliary transportation) they finished well - it was a life drawing class so their prof pretty much graded them on the spot based on improvement over the term. They start math and English classes next semester, which will be more fun for me because then I’ll get to nag, proofread, and tutor.

My poli-sci professor did the same thing. 2 midterms, a term paper and final are what he uses to calculate our grade.

Just finished with my last (of four) finals today. Just one more semester to go, then I’m off to work. I’m sure three of those four are all locked up, good result, etc. The one I took today (Finance, part of a business minor, which I am steadily growing to loath) is the one I am concerned about. It’s worth 40% of my grade, and this professor makes tests that would make Wall Street guys weep. As we are beginning the test, he says “Well, there is going to be a big curve on this one!”. This is both good and bad: Hey, big curve, decent chance at a good grade, and Hey, big curve, means this test is completely awful!

Please, please, please, oh Finance Gods on high, all I want for Christmas is a passing grade!

I just finished writing an Econ final. As long as I pass my process design in a couple of days, I will be an Engineer in six months!

God damn it, start a war or something, I was hoping for $200 oil!

I’m pretty sure I’ll score an A in three of my classes, so that’s good news  I think I did okay in the [del]Restoration Literature[/del] Writing About Cities class–maybe a B?–but I’m not so sure about Postcolonial Lit and I’m fairly certain I’m just barely making it in Sociology.

The final for Topics in Medieval Literature was way, way, way easier than I’d thought it would be–I was staying up all night frantically memorizing grammar and verbs in Old English, and all we had to do was talk about quotes from the texts we studied. I’ll really miss the prof teaching that course…

There’s only one more final exam on the fifteenth, and then I’m done!

I wrote Statistics on Wednesday, and I think I did alright. I only need something like 6 points on it to pass the course, and that’s all I’m really looking for. I did get a bit of a talking-to from the prof because he thinks I’m too bright to not do any assignments, while I think I’m too bright to do them.

Genetics is today (Friday). I should start studying. I’ll probably scrape a 70 or so, and that’s fine by me.

I’m taking my first finals in eight years tomorrow morning. I’m a little nervous about it. I’ll let you all know how I think they’ll go.

I’m expecting to ace one of them, and the second is a little more of a crap shoot. It’s hard to predict how an essay-based exam will go.

breathes in, breathes out

I took Productivity Analysis today, which was easier than expected.

Tomorrow I am looking at Linear Algebra and Engineering Economics. I’m not too worried about Econ, though boy is Linear algebra going to hurt. Last week my professor confessed that he did not know it was a departmental final and did not teach to the curriculum that will be on the test.

Saturday is my Engineering Prob&Stat exam. I was nervous about it, but I went over the material yesterday and realized that I could actually do all of it with ease. What sucks is that my boyfriend is leaving campus in the middle of it.

Information systems was last week (it was scheduled for 8am Saturday, but my professor thought that was obscene), a bit of a joke.

but oh man, Linear Algebra. I’m pretending that I can do it and that it will be an adventure in problem solving, and those are always fun!

In all, though, this semester was way easier than last. Never take Honors Chem, Honors Physics and Calc 3 at the same time.

Biochemistry and Quantitative Analysis well just dandy. Supposedly Instrumental and Biochem II are quite miserable. :o

Biblical Hebrew: I’ve been doing well in the course overall, and the grades are evenly distributed between quizzes, assignments, tests, etc. I know I mistranslated one or two of the words on the Biblical passage, but I think I’ll get a high mark.

Ancient Near Eastern History: I’ve literally lost one point (on an assignment or quiz) in the entire class. I nailed the final. Solid 4.0.

Statistics: Um…I finished it. On the midterm, I did every question I had time to answer correctly, so I’m hoping that’s a good sign. He grades on the curve, so that helps.

Next quarter: Hebrew, Coptic, and Human Physiology :smack:
